About the Game

Set on the fictional world of Norrath five centuries after the EverQuest expansion Planes of Power, EverQuest II isn't actually a direct sequel to Sony's famed MMO but is instead an "alternate future" that has diverged from the original EverQuest timeline. In EverQuest II, the continent of Antonica has been rendered into the "Shattered Lands," a series of islands separated by an impassable ocean, and now, in the Age of Destiny, the forces of good and evil struggle to rebuild Norrath and lead it into the future.

Like its predecessor, EverQuest II is a massive, sweeping MMO epic, with thousands of monsters to battle and quests to undertake. Even more exotic races are available to play, like the Ratonga, the Kerra, the Wood Elf and the Sarnak, along with a wider range of classes including specialist fighters, healers, scouts and mages. The focus remains on PvE battle, but consenting players can also engage in PvP action, or hop onto a dedicated PvP server and brace yourself for a fight. Players can dive into the action solo or embark upon adventures in groups up to six, or launch raids with up to 24 people at a time.

Social interaction is encouraged through strong support for guilds, which gain "guild level" experience as their members perform tasks. As the guild level rises, members gain access to new items, mounts, houses, guild halls and more; guilds also have access to built-in recruitment tools and even their own banks. To further enhance the social experience, players can communicate via voice chat, a built-in mail system and conventional in-game chat options.

EverQuest II is free-to-play, with an option for a one-time "Silver" account upgrade or a monthly "Gold" subscription package that unlocks access to all spell tiers, equipment grades, races, classes and more. Whether you subscribe or not, you'll also be able to take advantage of all the in-game Marketplace has to offer with Sony Online Entertainment's "Station Cash," which allows you to purchase items, mounts, additional races and classes, and more. And if you're the creative sort, you can even design products of your own with Player Studio that, if selected by Sony, will allow you to earn money through Marketplace sales.

Sony describes EverQuest II as "the epitome of massively multiplayer gaming - the ultimate blend of deep features, heritage, and community." With its long history, thriving community and support for solo play, groups, large-scale raids and PvP, it might just be right.
