About the Game

In the beginning, the goddess Aika created what she considered would be a perfect world. After discovering that her race of humans was flawed, Aika decided to correct their faults with the Zereca race, who quickly went mad with power and began ravaging the planet. Regretting her actions, Aika spirited the last humans into the sky to preserve them before falling into a deep sleep. Now the Zereca appear are returning, but so is Aika herself, who imbues select humans as her emissaries to combat them until she can awaken.

Characters start of the game as a recently discovered Aitan gifted with special abilities. Aika provides players with six classes, three of which are determined by gender. Melee-based characters are male Warriors and female Paladins, ranged characters are male Riflemen and female Dual-Gunners, and magic users are male Warlocks and female Clerics. Your classes will be upgraded during the course of play, although other than restrictions on weapons and armor you'll generally progress through the same quests and content.

Progression is your standard MMO-fare of fetch quests and monster slayings, but Aika attempts to bring a few twists to the formula. Upon reaching level 7, the player can complete a quest connecting them to an elemental creature known as a Pran. Starting out as a fairy-like creature, Prans will develop alongside your character, even expressing different personality traits as they grow. Prans essentially act as NPC companions that grow with the player, although only one is available per character.

Perhaps the strongest emphasis of Aika is not its Pran NPCs, but PvP combat. Aika lends a great deal of support to player interactions. Aika allows groups of up to 24 players to take part in quests, or participate in huge Siege battles. Castle Sieges allow huge player groups to raid another player-controlled structure, breaking through gates and taking guard towers until the castle is taken or the attack is repelled. Castle Siege appears to be one of the largest features of the game, with nearly 2000 players competing in any given struggle between factions.

Whether you're new to MMOs, or simply interested in seeing some unique twists on the formula, Aika is an addition to the genre with something to offer.
