Do you love action RPGs but are disappointed with the genre these days? Path of Exile was made for gamers like you. After playing these games for years, the hardcore gamers behind Grinding Gear Games decided they could do things a bit differently. Gone are static maps, auction houses, crappy loot tables, and predictable builds. Path of Exile brings the hoards of monsters and mounds of loot, but aims to do it right this time. With a also a host of new PvP options that will keep you grinding for hours not because you have to, but because you're enjoying yourself.
Replayability is king in PoE. Every world map is fully randomized, complete with the kinds of monsters as well as their magical effects. Each of the six character classes share a huge passive skill tree, which lets you spread the joy between all of your builds. By focusing on sidegrades instead of simple upgrades, the passive skill tree is filled with clever strategies and builds for players to discover.
What good is an action RPG without the loot? Special attention has been poured into making the item tables as perfect as possible. Every item is randomized. Even the end-game levels drop as random maps. The entire economy is based around items. Instead of gold, magic orbs let you reroll item properties are the currency.
Upgrade your items with Skill Gems. Far more than just socketable gems, Skill Gems add new abilities to your items and level up independently, so you can further customize your build.
In Path of Exile, PvP is far more than just killing other players. The are regular leveling races, where you play against the entire server to see who can level the fastest (using fresh gear). Each race takes place on its own server, many with different rules. If that's not enough for you, there's also Cut-Throat league, where you can invade other player's instances and murder them for their items. There's also turbo league, where monsters move and attack 60% faster. Some leagues last an hour, while other last several months. The winner walks away with bragging rights and special rewards.
