About the Game

A lot of people play World of Tanks. It launched in Russia in 2010, and quickly generated a huge number of registered users in Europe. When World of Tanks opened severs in other countries, the population grew to include more than 40 million registered users and broke concurrent user records among MMOs, finally resting on more than 500,000 Russian players on one day in October 2012. So yeah, WoT is a thing.

That's because it's a brilliant blend of fun PVP mechanics with military strategy and at least an attempt at historical accuracy. There are more than 300 different varieties of tanks available, all based on actual models and prototypes of tanks built by America, Germany, Soviet Russia, France, China and the UK. Not every model is exactly like its historical counterpart, but the team at Wargaming.net have worked hard to balance real details with fun gameplay. As you complete battles and gain experience, you can equip out your collection of tanks however you want

Tanks are split into 5 classes, which more or less break down to common gaming tropes. Light tanks have less armor but are quite fast and easy to maneuver, making excellent scouts. Medium tanks are more versatile and can be kitted out to support scouts or with more guns and armor to be more durable. Heavy tanks are the obvious, um, tanks. Tank Destroyers a serve as long ranged snipers designed to destroy oncoming attackers while SPGs are lightly armored artillery able to attack anywhere on the map, with some guidance.

There's various modes to play World of Tanks in like Assault and Encounter skirmishes, but the endgame is Clan warfare. Clans of players battle each other to take over territory in a strategic map of Eurasia and the competition is fierce. No matter what tank you're piloting, World of Tanks rewards coordination and communication between teammates.
