Set in the 15th Century, more or less, this colony-building game is free-to-play. While there may be a microtransactions model, the title is in Closed Beta at the moment, and little is known about its systems.
- To be confirmed!
There's not much that can be said about Anno Online at the moment, as it's in closed beta. It's in the Anno series, so if you're a fan of colony building, rejoice, as that's what you can expect here. The Old World is done for, wracked with disease and dissent. You, and your fellow colonists, set off for the New World, and found a bountiful land full of space for you to expand in.
Because it's in closed beta, there are many systems that may eventually exist, but can't be confirmed. PvP is one such; it's a reasonable bet that some form of player versus player competition will be incorporated, but there's no way to know how, or in what form. Its presumed 15th Century date puts it squarely in the Anno: Age of Discovery mould, and in that title your main occupation was gathering enough resources to make stuff. Creating wine, for example, required the following:
1. Wood from a lumberjack hut
2. Iron ore from a mine
3. The iron must be smelted at an iron smelter
4. The wood and iron must go to the barrel cooperage
5. There must be a vineyard to produce grapes
6. Finally the grapes and the barrels are transported to the wine press.
Initial feedback from the beta group suggests that this Anno is very similar to the previous games in the series, which implies that resource gathering and strategic decision making will be your main occupations here.
