District 187
Basic Information

At the end of the 21st century, the world is wracked by economic collapse and morality is up for sale to the highest bidder. Power is concentrated in the hands of the ultra-wealthy, who use governments to protect and advance their own interests. But some people are willing to fight for their freedom, no matter what the cost - and some are just looking to carve their own slice of the pie. This is the world of District 187, where gangsters and SWAT go head-to-head in vicious gun battles in the slums, the ghetto, the suburbs and more, one side trying to protect the status quo and the other determined to tear it to the ground.

About the Game

District 187 is an online FPS that pits gangs against the police in near-future urban combat. The game has a heavy emphasis on clans and team-based performance, as teams regularly compete in "street fights" for control of various territories in the city. Game modes include Deathmatch (with a "knife only" option); Bomb Mode, in which one team must set a bomb and protect it until it detonates while the other tries to keep it from going off; Round Match, a race to be the first to win a set number of rounds; and Scramble, a Capture-the-Flag-style game mode.

"Street Fights," the ongoing competition to control territory in District 187, are the heart of the game. Eligible matches between clans go toward determining which clan dominates the street each week and also earns rewards for top-performing teams, including Netmarble Cash, gold, in-game items and more. Street Fight matches are "heavily monitored and moderated" by Netmarble Game Masters to ensure that no cheating or abuse takes place, and if any is discovered, offending clans are automatically disqualified. There are tournaments and daily missions with ranks, titles and other prizes up for grabs.

District 187 features a healthy range of both real-world and fictional firearms, including submachine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles and even a couple of good old-fashioned shotguns, rounded out by two types of pistols, a handful of bladed weapons, and smoke and frag grenades. Weapons can also be heavily modified with different types of sights, silencers, flashlights and skins, making each one a potentially unique instrument of digital death and destruction.

District 187 is free-to-play, and while players can spend real money on Netmarble Cash to buy mini-game items, cosmetic upgrades, secondary weapons and experience/gold boosts, all the primary weapons - the important things, in other words - can be had without paying a penny.
