2007's Most Anticipated

Editor's Choice: Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (EA Mythic)

The hype train has gotten out of control on this one. The partnership between then Mythic Entertainment and British painted army-men masters Games Workshop inspired gamers around the world to start drooling. Not even Electronic Arts buying Mythic could put a stop to the love-fest. The best part is, it looks like the folks at EA Mythic may actually be making a game that can stand up to the hype.

Warhammer Online, aka WAR, offers a bloody, more adult world that doesn't take itself entirely seriously. The quirky British humor, combined with the ability to play the whole game in a gory, but controlled Realm vs. Realm environment makes this a game to watch. Nothing has the replayability of Dark Age of Camelot's RvR and Mythic seems poised to take it to new heights in Warhammer.

Honorable Mention: Age of Conan (Funcom/Eidos)
Honorable Mention: Gods and Heroes (Perpetual/SOE)
Honorable Mention: Lord of the Rings Online (Turbine/Midway)

These three games got a few votes around the office, but fell just short. It's looking like 2007 might make up for the follies of 2006. All three games offer radically different styles and experiences. The combination should keep anyone happy.
