If you check the website background images, you'll notice that Cryptic recycled Perpetual Entertainment's concept art.

The good: Cryptic using it's tried and tested engine.
The bad: Console support, which could dilute the MMO mechanics and spread resources thin supporting different platforms.

I have pretty mixed emotions on the dual platform. That said, however, Champions also shares the dual platform thing and it looks darned good.

Aside from pretty graphics, which are truly comic-worthy, we still don't know much about the dual platform's impact on the core gameplay elements.

It's a megalithic challenge to package a complicated MMO control scheme into a gamepad.

That's very true but it's not like there are other games that have accomplished this such as FFXI.

It'll remain to be seen how successful it is but it's not out of the realm of possibility and is probably the wave of the future. Otherwise the development, at least in my opinion, of PC games is going to wane due to the expense.

And, let's face it: PC development is -tough- with all the thousands of possible PC configurations. At console is a known quantity. :(

Controls on a console could be a bit difficult, potentially. However, as stated before, it certain has been done before. Also, don't forget that both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 offer keyboard and mouse support. (Well, the latter offers mouse support at the very least, I don't actually have a 360).
