Fallen Earth: Alpha Videos Leaked

Two videos were leaked this week from the post-apocalyptic FPS/MMORPG Fallen Earth, which is currently undergoing Alpha testing, revealing the character customization process and the very first zone around the Hoover Dam.

A dedicated Beta-leaking forum posted two articles along with 20 minutes worth of ingame footage on their forums, noting in the first one the extensive character customization options as we've already known from the Question of the Week series. The second article delves deeper into the game combat and interaction system, and comments favorably about the FPS aspects of it:

FINALLY, I enter FPS mode. Oh My God!! It feels like a true FPS game, everyting is so natural at this point, both as far as animations and controls go. As you can see, your weapons actually move/hover, instead of being stiff and frozen, it gives it that very natural feeling. Only once I entered FPS mode did I realize that I'm actually equiped with some sort of air guns hehe...I thought they were miniguns before this .

To enter COMBAT MODE, all you have to do is press TAB, then you get little croshair which indicates you are in combat mode and your mouse at this point is exclusively for controling your weapons (you can't interact with other GUI or world elements. Left click will fire your right weapon, right click will fire your left weapon. Kind of like primary and secondary. Left mouse click always being primary and right hand always being primary, naturally. You can fire your weapon while running but your accuracy decreases, just like real FPS game.

Overall, the leaker was impressed by the game even at its early Alpha stage and promised to be back for more!

Pretty sure that's not a good idea either, but okay. If leaks were a good idea to report I'd have a ton of stuff to report all the time :P

The basic act of a leak happening is "news" that should be reported. Hosting and showcasing material that is under the NDA, which in this case is the videos, is not a good idea as you noted. Otherwise, the descriptive information that was featured in the articles regurgitate already known material, that we've covered through the QotW for the last 6 months or so.

So basically, nothing NDA-breaking here except the recorded videos.

Umm isn't the post above me from the WarCry Network Editor linking to a place that hosts, as its name states, beta leaks not a breach of NDA? Yeah you're not hosting the material just reporting the news and where to find it. Is Warcry the Fox News of MMO's?

Warcry are not bound by an NDA, only the individual who first leaked the info is. I'm sure if the company politely asked, the story would be pulled, but untill then it's really as newsworthy as anything else going on in MMOs right now.

Warcry just seems to be trying to grab readers which is fine. Fox News is watched by millions so they must be doing something right.

The original news post was actually edited as a courtesy to FE LLC. The post contained no NDA breaking information.

Everyone I know irl and in games have known about Warcry forever... I signed up in 2007 but was visiting before that. Used to be the site to get all thats MMO. I think that goes to Massively now, and I know most of their stuff is just linking to other sites but tehy always always link to the source and only give a recap in their little intro, not outright take stories and then just repost them.

I meant people in Escapist.
