Maybe, but it'd be a jump over the pond and a decent hike inland... :-P I'm gonna put an 8600 in instead to save cash. Though I have the same memory, chip, and possibly motherboard set to go too. All via my Newegg wishlist. Let me know how she does!

I much perfer athlons though, the nearest comparable Intel was £100 more expensive for a slower chip. Whole setup cost £1250, been saving for a while for it, and it runs like a dream. STALKER, Rainbow six: las vegas and Colin McRae DiRT all run flawlessly on high graphics, 1600x1200 resolution. Lineage 2 WarCry Site Manager |

WarCry Choice Posts: 4048 Joined: 6 Dec 2004 | I do like how nobody's picked me up for setting fire to 2 hard drives XD Also, i assembled the whole thing, they'd have made me wait another week for it if they assembled it themselves. Took some brute force to get some stuff in, i had no idea the 8800GTX cards were so big. As it is, the hard drive rack in my case has slots for 6 SATA drives, i can only use the bottom 2 rack slots, the graphics card is so big it juts into the rack, occupying the other 4. Well as the 8800s take up a PCI-E slot AND the slot next to it due to their massive heatsinks, i'd have no room to put in a network card or anything... or my hard drives. Lineage 2 WarCry Site Manager |
WarCry Choice Posts: 350 Joined: 12 Nov 2002 | 8800GTX SLI'd are really nice, right now Im only running 7950s SLI'd but gonna upgrade to those once DX10 becomes more relavent in a 6-month to a year or so, still a real lack of supporting titles. I stayed away from 64-bit myself because if its a gaming machine there is point, no company has programmed there games or has plans to in any near future to start making games in 64-bit. Now if you gonna use it for high end math programs like CAD or graphic software it worth it. How do you like the Razer Diamondback? Personally I liked the feel of the Copperhead over the Diamondback. Only thing I wish Razer would do now is make a Copperhead with changable weight.

ah, to small a case/board? And, setting to HDs on fire?

WarCry Choice Posts: 4048 Joined: 6 Dec 2004 | My case is pretty damn big, it's a thermaltake tsunami dream black case, even bigger than my last pc which was rather bulky, it's just the sheer size of the cards. The motherboard is also of average size, and it is set up with bigger cards in mind, the PCI-E slots being rather far apart, but it only has 2 slots for ethernet cards, etc, both of which are located right next to PCI-E number 2, meaning a second 8800GTX would cover them both and leave me networkless. And yes, i set hard drives on fire. In my defence it was a defective batch, as both the flammable ones had the same batch number and in both cases they were wired up identically to the working hard drive (which had a different batch number), but still, plumes of black smoke and a very hot case ensued. Fortunately i tested the HDDs before i put in most other components, so nothing else was damaged. *edit* oh and i'm loving the diamondback mouse. It's amazingly accurate considering how sensitive it is. A friend of mine has the deathadder and this is just as good, but costs less. Lineage 2 WarCry Site Manager |

Finally got my new machine. Here's some specs to drool over:
AMD x2 Dual core 64 bit 6000+ processor
2gb OCZ gaming RAM
Crazy-ass Asus motherboard with built in 7.1 sound and wi-fi
Thermaltake toughpower 700 watt PSU
2x Maxtor 320 GB hard drives
Nvidia 8800GTX graphics card
22 inch widescreen TFT monitor
7.1 surround sound speakers
logitech g15 gaming keyboard
Razer Diamondback gaming mouse.
It really is sex incarnate.
*edit* oh and as mentioned in my latest newspost, yes, i set 2 hard drives on fire. Not my fault.
