Might have been in one of the monthly updates. Theres so much WAR info out there I can't remember where I find everything. I'm sure it'll come around again though. Dogs of War are NPCs that will be used to balance certain RvR scenarios. They've been pretty tight-lipped on the details, so far. As for commanding them, I'd say that's probably not likely.
"The main perpetrator of this monkey lie [evolution] is Charles Darwin. He claims to have developed this 'theory' after studying 'finches' on the Galapagos 'Islands,' but I can guess why he really came up with it. He was on the Galapagos Islands for Spring Break, got smashed, woke up in bed next to a monkey, and then had to come up with a theory that make it all okay." |

Posts: 4 Joined: 7 Dec 2007 | Ok, I revoke my second question about the units running around with us, if we were able to command them, throughout our journey. While I think that is still possible, it wouldn't be a priority for launch. Especially since they are trying to make sure that as many real players will be able to fight in one area without the server exploding. As for the Dogs of War NPCs in the RvR instances you peeps are absolutely correct that they will balance out gameplay in the RvR scenarios, but I was under the impression that they would function as replacements for players. What I meant by controlling the NPC soldiers was that they would function more like peon levels and not player levels. Um let me try an example: You are a Knight of The Blazing Sun and you happen upon a town that is being attacked by chaos and you run into the fray to help your fellow country men. I mean, you are a Knight, not just an ordinary member of a militia or halberd regiment, but a Knight. In this vain would it not make sense for us as the Knight to be able to muster those defenses and command those state troopers to take back the town. Now I do have to admit that I agree it may be unlikely. But they haven't really said anything either way. I guess its a fools hope really, but does this not sound like a very cool, in the spirit of the game, and right up the alley of Mythic awesomeness proposition and question? |

Half the players that will be RvRing are morons regardless. They may be an improvement.
I agree, that would be cool but unlikely.

Think of the more current games and the AI in those, it's getting pretty damn good. Mythic wouldn't implement something that won't be well executed. I also believe I read that the Dogs of War will be specialized, as in certain ones will work towards doing certain things, rather than running around aimlessly trying to find something to kill.
True, their primary purpose is to prevent long queues. If a player enters the queue for that particular scenario, a DoW will be despawned and they'll let the player in.
No thanks, I don't want a bunch of dregs following me around. I imagine it would cause a lot of problems in balancing, It's hard enough to balance the classes against eachother. Maybe they'll implement triggers where if you enter a certain area, the NPCs will begin fighting alongside you, but I can't see them granting you any control over them whatsoever. |

The knight idea works for some, but a High Elf Shadow warrior wouldn't be charging into the fray with a bunch of spearman. That would go against the IP. Oh well, I'm still hoping but maybe thats why nobody asks this question hahaha. |

Posts: 1 Joined: 29 Dec 2003 | This question comes from a term that has come up more frequently with the more recent MMO's to date. i couldn't see if this has been asked yet but it has been in the back of my mind for a long time how WAR will handle this situation. Will WAR be a game where you need to raid or fall behind ? Not just raiders though, but the situation usually gives a serious advantage to the players who have the time to rep grind or farm for the best gear. As i am not familiar with equipment in warhammer, the reference i give to "gear" in WAR would mean those items that assist in giving the players the ability to be better at DPSing/tanking/support. i'm sure WAR has something like this. Will casual players in WAR be at a serious disadvantage over raiders/grinders/farmers? In all honesty i'm thinking yes, that's the reality of the gaming world i guess. But i'm curious to hear if anything is planned to help prevent such a thing from happening or balancing things out. cheers :) -roob |

Posts: 1052 Joined: 5 Jul 2007 | In all games, people who invest the most time will be rewarded with the best items/etc. You can't really escape from that. Although WAR is going to be much more casual friendly than previous MMO's it will still have the same set up that the most time invested = best gear/items. However, there is much more tha casual players will be able to get out of this game. You can get good rewards for participating in Public quests, you can stop on and do even a few segments of the PQ and still be rewarded. You can hop on and do some scenarios/level your guild with your friends and be rewarded with different reputation or some R word or something, based rewards after so many are done. Even gankers are going to be frowned upon and made very difficult to do it anymore. Whats the purpose of ganking? How does it benefit the game in any way other than pissing off an alienating new players? Well, it's not going to happen regularly in WAR like it does in other MMOs, so casual players who take longer to level wont have to worry too much about it. Also: The only penalty for death is time it takes to respawn. I don't believe there will be anymore of thatgear destruction crap or need to waste money on repairs. So everyone benefits from that. But like I said, the people who invest insane amount of hours into the game will get places first and they'll get the best stuff first. I think everyone has a chance to get into endgame though. Unlike WoW, where they spend months and thousands of dollars designing a high end dungeon that a majority of their players wont ever see anywhere other than on youtube. I believe the majority of WAR's endgame is open for everyone, while the elite few will do the best, everyone will get to do it. Hope that helps a little bit. -Cada Emancipating heads from necks since 1987!

I believe WoW did something like that, so it makes me hopeful. But either way it doesn't matter too much. Emancipating heads from necks since 1987!

Posts: 2 Joined: 30 Oct 2007 | I wonder if it will be possible to level up in alli realms ? For example i will play humans and a friend of mine will play dwarf so will i be able to meet him somewhere in a mid game or i will have to wait till end game content to travel to any realm ? Last podcasts ive seen are nice but imho animation of fight is poor ... two dummies standing face to face and just waving their weapons it is "atari 2000" stuff. Im sure that there will be loads of cool moves but seems to me that models should look a bit more alive espesialy while fights ... and the question is - Will it be any kind of penalty for fighting on the move for MDPS and non magick RDPS ? Any formations for party/raid members that will give some tiny buffs or smth ? Ty in advance. sry for my english. |

Posts: 1 Joined: 6 Apr 2008 | I would like to know what the RP servers have in store for us. This is the first game I actually want to get into the lore with since it is so in-depth. Iv'e been reading up on forums and guides and such on how to RP. Right now I feel like my brain is about to explode with all this knowledge. Anyway back to the subject I would like to know if like your going to be able to make a lore about your character that other people can read. Like a basic storyline about your character. I really want to jump ahead of the game on that so my story can be done before the game is released. Thanks for the help if someone responds to this. |

Posts: 1 Joined: 7 May 2008 | Sofar im quite enthousiastic about the game with everything i read about it. One of the things that is really unclear to me is what the global idea is of the endgame. As far as i understand the ultimate goal of a level 40 is to invade the enemy's capital city . Ofcourse this sounds fun, but i dont see it like a game filling endgame (even though it probably will take some time to work out proper tactics and such). I can immagine that plundering the capital isnt much fun after you did it a few times. Wil there be even an incentive for seasoned players to keep attacking/defending the capitals for the Xth time? How big will PvE endgame be? will it be comparable to the RVR/PvP endgame? I understand that it is possible to earn rewards/gear through pvp/rvr. If that is the case, will it also be possible to loose the ability to use the gear /items you have, if for example you dont play enough pvp?( i hope not) As stated in comments before in this thread, its more than logical that some people will get better gear than others. i was just wondering if these differances would make a huge impact on the pvp. For example would a player with the simpelest level 40 gear stand a chance against a top-geared player edit: i just thought of one more question just after i posted. I dont know if there is even an answer possible, but how will te game be if there is a huge imbalance between order and destruction population on a server ( or perhaps just a big imbalance between the opposing armies). wil it stil be fun for the smaller faction? |

WarCry Choice Posts: 6846 Joined: 31 Aug 2003 | A city siege will require a massive cooperative effort from the server, they're not going to be happening a lot or anytime soon after the game releases. Endgame RvR will largely consist of keep sieges, the scenarios and just open world/roaming RvR. They haven't mentioned much of the endgame PvE content, but I'd imagine with the game's RvR focus, there won't be as much as say WoW has. No, you won't be able to lose the gear/items for not PvPing enough, that'd be straight up stupid. Of course someone with the best gear available will have an advantage, but it won't be a guaranteed win for him if he goes up against a 40 with the more basic gear. Personally, I prefer to be the outnumbered faction. In DAoC, I played Midgard and on my server we were the smallest of the three, and that just made it all the more fun. I imagine Mythic will put things into place like they did in DAoC to try and get people to play the side that's underpopulated with various things like bonuses to coin drops or realm points gained, stuff like that. |

Not sure if this has been asked yet, but is there going to be a scripting language for the game (something akin to WoW using LUA)? If so, what's the language going to be?
