Yes, I know, take a number, for all its successes and wonders, I just wish to see those 9 million players playing something else for a change. WoW is like the sponge that soaks up all life from the MMO scene, leaving dead husks of past memories. Alas, this is but a wishful thinking. |

I have been playing SWG since launch, and each chapter is unimpressive, thus I cancelled my account for a couple of months, just for the fact that the game needs some server mergers immediatly. Will the development listen? probably not. Kill this foul beast of a game already. I need a fresh start.. STO is lookin reeeeeal good thus far. ^_^ Kill SWG, Make room for STO... for now. |

The only positive thing I can say about them is that they are distibuting PotBC, but with games like SWG, Vanguard, etc., they have proven to be were MMO's go to die. As for WOW, I play it myself, though it irritates me everyone sees this as the pinnacle of MMO's. Any new MMO being released is shunned by the general gaming community as being another WOW, but a different genre. Yes, WOW brought MMO's mainstream, but it not the be-all-and-end-all of what an MMO can be. |

SOE's only made the EQs, though. Everything else was a publishing deal. I don't think it's fair to say MMOs go there to die, since all their games are running. Disclaimer: I'm no fan of most of the games under their name. |

eh my choice would be the same but for different reasons. While you would do it to save their sad lives dominated by every min of the game, id do it just to piss off 5 million people lol |

To be fair, s much as there is righteous hate directed towards SOE for their screwup on SWG and others, I applaud their continues support for their published and acquired MMOs. I can't say the same about NCsoft. |

Any who I would cancel SWG not to make room for STO (I hate anal trekkies... I imagine the game is going to be paperwork in space). I would like to see KOTOR online. So if WoW is so wretched ... what is a good MMO out right now?

If you want an mmo thats gonna make you cuss up and down at your monitor for a death, or really get that run in ud go to 1 of those epic mmo's like ffxi, ultima, ex. If you want a middle ground their really isn't any. I mean they say they're more hardcore then the easy mmo's but in the end every mmo ive seen comes out either tries to be just another wow copy with differences to attract the same crowd, or they try to be hardcore while catering to soloing. In the end it doesn't really work. You can't be 1 thing while being different and you sure as hell cant try to be hardcore and then give tons of freebee's like having a huge world and then creating insta warp everywhere so you don't have to use the world then. Your either easy or your hardcore. I personally play both. ffxi is a bitch to be sure, but its fun cause anything you have in their you have to work your ass off for. |
Adventurer Posts: 222 Joined: 10 Jul 2006 | I played FFXI for a year. Never quite understood what was fun about it. Theres what about 6 different monsters? Very limited equipment and some asshat telling me that I am not optimizing my job combo every 10 seconds. I will grant that WoW is pretty easy, but it is sure a hell of alot more fun than FFXI with a lot more to see and a lot more variety.

So many just want to quit but cant make themselves because of all the time they put into it and their friends cant either. The game is seriously starting to suck more with the patches and expansions that are comming out. And it is going in the wrong direction. I think gamers need the releif of not having WoW to suck away their time, WoW players need a new refreshing good game to turn to. :D |
Apprentice Posts: 5 Joined: 4 Jun 2007 | SOE In general also and wow maybe soe just plain sucks at making games they release too early and underdeveloped when was the last time they came out with a good game that you could enjoy and stick with. WoW was fun i played for like 1.2 years lets say but the expansion just screwed the whole game up i hated it. |
Apprentice Posts: 5 Joined: 4 Jun 2007 | The new refreshing games to turn to for wow playes would be warrhammer online pr age of conan. Im looking forward to age of conan myself but if that doesnt work out it will be warhammer for me. |

lol thats what I like about it. Very limited equipment, means your not going to go all out full on epic glory. Without a grp and the equipment with the stats that cater to that class you not as efficient as you could be. As for the asshats ya their are good many. Some are pricks others try and help ya out by telling you how to survive or do better. Personally I don't give a damn as long as you don't have some moron who has no idea what his class is. Like the ever constant warrior NEVER VOKING. I just boot em from the grp and tell em to go wipe some other grp. I made a post about ffxi to a person who asked if they should spend the monthly bill on it weather it would be worth it. I think this sums it up for any epic mmo. [its simple. You always here every dumbass game that comes out saying this is HARDCORE. its tougher, the fairies slap you lol. The differance between a red mmo and this 1 is this is considered an epic mmo. Means everything is gonna take lots and lots of time. Killing, xping, leveling, questing, getting some item, even traveling. And when I say time I mean 5 min 10 min, 15 min. On top of that any type of thing that can be put in the way of you accomplishing your current goal is in the way. From losing xp and delevling to mobs that can either aggro you from sight or sound 30 yards away and or are right in the middle of a damn path that is the only way in or out of that zone to a destination you need to get to. On topm of that forget soloing because your not gonna get anywhere in a chance in *** of leveling without a grp. On top of that each class does its exact own thing which means if you can't find a specific type of class you can't make a grp and you cant xp and you cant level or get the job done. This game is hardcore in every single sense of any definition ever developed for it. So if you like a game that takes YEARS (and im being literal in that statement) to reach the very last level, with mobs that you will need a grp, that you cant solo. (No this is not casual freindly in any type of sense) and like to just grind and grind and work your *** off for the most trivial thing. Than yes this game is worth it. If time is something you dont have in periods (if you log on id say you would probably devote 3 hours to finding and xping in a grp) or you dont like to spend alot of time traveling, and really wish your class could do what the other 1 does and hope they will change the classes to be more "balanced with each other and give you some added dps or heals to be more like the other guy, then no, it isnt worth it. Because in the time ive been in this game its obvios the game does not give a damn what you think its not easy its no solo freindly, its designed to **** you off at every turn. I love it but some people don't. The choice is yours.] Its blunt but it doesn't bs you like others do with well it has this and this is cool to. Right to the point of if you like it then play it, if you don't then leave because it is a pain in the ass. |
