Which is better for a hunter, a bow or a crossbow? I like the bow but the crossbow is quicker, just wanted to know what others thought? =0)

im a traditionalist give me a bow for my elven hunter anyday :)

My hunter uses a bow. My guardian uses a crossbow.

Overall, I like the bow better. :)

For my hunter I went with a crossbow for the damage...

I prefer speed so I like the crossbow.

generally up to you, but id go the bow

crossbows are okay and i keep one handy, but when in trouble the bow is always the one to choose 8)

Anyone else feel that the crossbow stance is weird, or is it just me?

Why in the hell would a crossbow ever be quicker than a bow? Is this just a special crossbow that is supposed to be faster?

Go with the bow, honestly. I personally think they look nicer and make more sense for a LoR setting.

Dual weild a bow/crossbow. Or start stabbing with arrows/bolts.

My husband's hunter uses a crossbow, my hunter uses a bow. It really comes down to preference, and what stats you want to emphasize.

In D&D terms: crossbows are for amateurs. And a self respecting fighter should stick to throwing weapons. For that reason, I let my hunter use bows only.

It's probably useful to have one of each if possible for different senarios, as quick attack rate is useful against weak enemies, but the extra damage is always nice for things that are a bit beefier.

I suppose it also depends on how you use your skills, as if you rely on a couple of big hits then the extra damage off the bow will probably make quite alot of difference.

I completely agree. As unhelpful as this advice might be, it's all up to personal preference: your playing style dictates which weapon would better suit your character.

Bow defo, while less powerful it does tend to fire ALOT more quickly.

In LotRO the choice easily makes a difference. There might be a bug so that come crossbow animation is faster than the corresponding bow animation. This would make crossbow shots more efficient. But try it out yourself.

I'm not trying to de-rail the thread or anything, but as I was reading through the posts I saw 3 posts in a row that said the users were suspended for those 3 posts, and all the posts were saying was that the users thought the bow was the better choice.

Are the forums bugged right now or was there really something bad about their opinions? Or is it simply something wrong with my forum displays?

Anyway, to give my answer to the original question, I haven't played a hunter very far into the game, but usually crossbows are slower but do more damage than bows, so if that's not how it is in LotRO I'm surprised. And usually bows are better for hunters (unless saying that will get me banned too in which case crossbows are definitely better).

As others said before it's all on preference but I prefer Cross bow.
