Publishers, Community Sites, and Tools Vendors Can Deliver Branded In-game Widgets; Players Can Access Everything In-game
New Distribution Partners Include Destructoid, The Syndicate, Team Eg, And GMOD

SANDPOINT, IDAHO - APRIL 7, 2009 - PlayXpert, developer of the patent-pending TrueOverlay™ in-game overlay system and provider of next-generation in-game community tools for PC and MMO gamers - which lets them access the web, watch videos, do research, and chat without leaving the game - today announced its "Signature Edition" distribution program. This program allows community sites, publishers, and studios with the ability to brand the PlayXpert platform and deliver it to their community of users. In addition, anyone in the program can provide widgets that are made available on the PlayXpert widget gallery or used by other PlayXpert users.

"Our Signature Edition distribution program gives anyone in the PC games business the ability to use our breakthrough overlay technology as a means to support their users, distribute great tools that work in any DirectX game, and extend their own brand in the process," said Charles Manning CEO of PlayXpert. "The challenges related to building an 'in-game solution' no longer exist for companies who are catering to the gamer - just use our platform and you can bring your tools or content into any game."

In addition to announcing this new program, PlayXpert is also announcing new participating partners including hardcore community site Destructoid, leading guild "The Syndicate," competitive gaming team Evil Geniuses, and Mod catalog provider GMOD.

Terms and licensing details about PlayXpert Signature Editions are available upon request by contacting PlayXpert via their website at http://playxpert.com/web/guest/communities/partners.

Clever idea, releasing it like a sort of API for game devs to quickly introduce more community elements in the game.

Would be prefect in the MMO market where an in-game button could launch a web browser opened to the game's forums, saving the devs time programming an in-game browser.

I like where PXP is going but sadly it doesn't sit well with my system.

I have just finished sending a follow up question to Manning about whether or not the Vista compatibility has been solved and/or whether or not PXP can be run in XP compatibility mode. I love the idea too but haven't been able to use it due to the above. :(

Yeah, I gave it a try and it worked to an extent, but it was pretty buggy. The overlay sometimes wouldn't open, sometimes wouldn't close, in the end it began locking up my games, so I got rid of it.

Will be awesome when it's all bug free though

I received an answer back and the Vista 64/XP 64 bit compatibility issues are to be addressed within the next month. *crosses fingers*

It's already Vista friendly, just not 64 bit friendly. I can't wait!
