SWTOR Now Taking Game Testing Applications

Star Wars: The Old Republic developer, Bioware, is now accepting "game testing" applications from interested parties. *g* So popular is the announcement, the application site has gone down from over exertion. Find out what you need to do below:

BioWare and LucasArts today announced that they have started accepting applicants to assist them in testing Star Wars: The Old Republic. Limited testing slots are reserved for The Old Republic Community members, so those interested need only sign up at http://www.swtor.com/user/account if they haven't already. Once signed in, members can log in and click the My Account page to opt in for testing. Testing will be an ongoing process, and spots are limited, so people need to sign up early to give them the best possible chance of getting selected.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massively-multiplayer online game being developed by the storytelling experts at BioWare and LucasArts. In Star Wars: The Old Republic, players will explore an age thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader when war between The Old Republic and The Sith Empire divides the galaxy. Players can choose to play as Jedi, Sith, or a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, defining their personal story and determining their path down the Light or Dark side of the Force. Along the way, players will befriend courageous companions who will fight at their side or possibly betray them, based on the players' actions. Players can also choose to team up with friends to battle enemies and overcome incredible challenges in dynamic Star Wars combat.

SWTOR's community manager, Sean Dahlberg, has made a post on the official forums regarding the difference between "beta testing" and "game testing":

I would like to point out that we are doing Game Testing sign-ups; we have not done any announcements about "beta" testing. As specified in the original article, the Game testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be rolled out in several phases over an extended period of time. These test phases will begin with smaller, tightly focused test groups, and later tests will expand.

We'll provide a link to that thread when the SWTOR site is finished with maintenance. ;)

I was able to sign up but there are still a few issues with the registration process. All I can say is for those having troubles in Firefox, try try try again. The fifth time I registered worked. :)

I assume "http://www.stor.com/user/account" was a typo. Pretty sure it's supposed to be http://www.swtor.com/user/account for those looking to sign up.
