| Swedish GameStops Break Cataclysm Street Date
Some customers obtained their copies of Cataclysm before the launch, but I'm not sure what good it did them.
According to a gamesindustry.biz report, at least two GameStop locations in Sweeden have sold copies of the latest in the series of World of Warcraft expansions, Cataclysm, over the course of the weekend, breaking Blizzard's international sales embargo.
When questioned, GameStop staff confirmed the early sales and claimed that they broke the street date in order to compete with a rival chain store, the Gothenburg branch of Rocks, who did so first. They have since stopped the pre-launch sales and vowed to abide with the sales embargo.
Interestingly, even with the game in hand over the weekend, players will not be able to activate the new expansion until midnight, just like everyone else. They did get to look at the pretty artwork while they wait, though; maybe that was worth it.
