Out of all the days that "beta" could be offline it just happened to be the very day when someone was there to see it. So let me sum this Dev journal up for you. More useless words with no one having actually seen or played beta. Let me just remind the fanboys of something who are inevitably stroking their rods to this "news". They were visited by a fan before years ago and he also wrote up some nice "words". Years later after his visit theres still nothing to show for it. So he played some offline demo. Is that beta? No. Does that show the functionality of a massive online world capable of supporting hundreds in massive siege battles? No Does that show the supposed hundreds of quests functioning in-game ? No Does that show hundreds of skills and quests and monsters and thousands of items and god knows what else that they've been touting for 7 years? No Some lame demo after 7 years might cut it for the delusional fanboys but not for people that actually see things as they truly are. Until theres a public playable demo to review this is all more useless shit. And the fans who followed this thing for so many years should be insulted by this so called "dev journal". They have a playable offline demo? So why not show it publically to the fans instead of completely useless dev journals like this one????? |

Wow, real mature. Nothing sticks it to a troll more than some immature name calling. Go you! I'm not a troll, but i'm also not as delusional as some people. Yeah I want the game to come out, and I want to believe its true. I had a talk with my roommate last night about the game that was based on if Samdawgs stories were actually true. That being said, my first thoughts on reading "oh our servers just happened to be down the one time a real person happened to be around" my first though was that it was awfully convenient for them. So what that they say they have a beta date. First of all, we have no idea when that date is, another convenient truth left out. For all we know it could be January or later. Just because they have a date in their heads also doesn't mean they're going to actually make that date. They had a date a few times and they keep missing it. I don't see why you'd magically think they'd get it right this time. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a troll, I like darkfall, I want it to come out. However, you have to actually use your brain occasionally and stop using "oh well they /said/ they have a beta date" I think we can all agree by now that their word doesn't mean much. |

It's quite obvious that you guys really want this game to come out and be successful, by the fact, that you still post on this journal. Not only are you guys posting but you argue, call each other names, and get into personal debate. I post on here every once in a while because i want it to be released too. But somehow you guys get all fierce and there's this war over a game to which there hasn't even been a public beta. Honestly, that makes no sense at all. On one hand you have people trying to convice others that the game isn't legitimate. Why would you do that? Is this going to help people? You yelling at people and degrading the organization isn't going to make the developers all of the sudden hurry up, and produce the game a year quicker than if you hadn't. The other guys who call these guys names and get offended by them are ridiculous. Why is it worth arguing over. I honestly wish that some intelligent people would come on here and discuss possibilities of the real game. Maybe give some insight to what it will actually be like. I haven't played that many MMORPGs so I wanna hear what people have to say about it. Instead you're having a personal, extremly immature debate over whether or not the game is legitimate. The degraders and the defenders both ruin this thread completely. I'd like to hear about the damn game thanks. |

Honestly, I think they should just cut the dev updates until they have something substantial to say. Because right now, their useless attempts at PR are just making asses of themselves. Better to just shutup and finish the damn game instead of spoonfeeding more shit to the fanboys - and giving more ammo to the vaporware callers. |

A very good sign he didn't see much, seeing as the "internal servers" were down. Look, this argument is like beating a dead horse, so I'm going to point to a very simple and obvious statement: "I was originally planning to give you a preview of the game in this installment but I didn't have the time to put it together." -Tasos Now, if you really look at that post, it speaks clearer than anything else. And if you put it together with this following statement: "Kjetil and I pretty much spent the day with him and we really need to get back to work, I think his feedback on his visit is probably better than whatever we could say right here." It makes even more sense. So let me see if I'm clear here, Tasos and Kjetil have time to wine and dine a random guest who is going to do nothing but talk the game up, but they don't have time to show the rest of us (who have been begging for solid information for years) anything because they "don't have time"? This makes ZERO sense. How do you have an entire day's worth of time to chit chat with someone, yet you don't have 2 hours to make a comprehensive video for your 10k+ fans? ESPECIALLY when you have people questioning this game every single day, and you've missed multiple deadlines (I don't care if they were internal or not - if they were internal, why were they ANNOUNCED TO THE PUBLIC). Plain and simply put, this developer journal did exactly the opposite of what it was meant to do. It's made me less interested in this game, and believing less that it will in fact come out. Think about another thing here. They spent an entire day with this guy, but couldn't fix the servers during that time? This either shows something flaky is going on (as in this is a bullshit excuse to pretend they are farther than they are) OR they have serious bugs causing issues on internal-only beta. If it's the latter, and you go back to their statements that they don't want a beta until they've basically worked out everything prior to that beta, don't ever expect a beta. Bottom line: Don't expect anything to move as far as this game is concerned. Anyone who wants to argue this point, please feel free - I fear you are wasting your breath. Has anyone seen the Robin Williams stand-up "Live on Broadway" before? He makes a joke about Donald Rumsfeld saying "I don't know where, I don't know when, and I don't know how - but something bad is going to happen". I'll summarize Tasos' statements with something similar. "I don't know when, I don't know how, but one day SOON we're going to have beta." LET THE FLAMES BEGIN. |

If these guys had a killer game they would make damn sure that it was up and running to show this guy so that he could come back and say how amazing it was. You can fly your happy ass all the way to Greece , walk into the actual room where the game is supposadely being built , and you still can't see a beta?? Some funny shit going on there... If I was the guy I would have post poned my trip back a day just to see what kind of excuse they came up with on Monday. Judging by this they might not even have any kind of Beta up at all and what he did see/play was all that they had to show him. A little commen sense goes a long way. |

Posts: 42 Joined: 2 Oct 2007 | I dont care what anyone says, Darkfall FTW, I dont care if it takes ANOTHER year, I havent seen ANY game even CLAIMING to offer what darkfall will, and the COUNTLESS references to Ultima Online as an inspiration for the game, will keep me waiting, as NOTHING on the current market offers a non-level based full loot PvP/PK game, all other features aside, a skill based, BALANCED, mmog with open PvP and loot would take my 15 a month from any one of 5 other games, if not ALL of them. At the very WORST, if it IS vaporware, at least this defines what it is we all want in an MMOG, if that means another company sees that and beats them to launch, (assuming it is vaporware) then whoopty friggin doo, at least our voice is heard as to what we want. I would rather see the oasis in the desert, then to not have a mirage, at least with hope you continued to walk to where the water wasnt. /bow |

And like it or not - after 7 years with nothin much to show for it darkfall looks like a pretty big failure to anyone except its closest fans right about now. |

IF they launch beta , IF everything is in place , IF everything actually works on their technology that has never been proven yet in any game. TeamFortress2 has lots of awesome videos and people have played it already and it's made by professionals at Valve.. the guys that made Half Life. What has Aventurine done? nothing. Again , commen sense goes a long way. Its time for people who follow this to start using some. |

But, yea like talon just said it's really not worth coming on here and b*tching and complaining all the time. Anyone who argues that the game isn't coming out is a hypocrit because he's checking this damn site out anyway to see what's happening. People who argue for the game are too passionate i believe. This forum is worth to check every 2 weeks or so to see if anything could be developing but it's not worth getting into a virtual brawl over. In fact it's pretty funny, but again that's not the purpose of this forum. |

This week, the Darkfall developer journal series continues with a brief, but enlightening entry on recent events at Aventurine SA. This last week saw a fan - Asp of the Lords of Death guild - visit the studio and Flambouras also reveals that they now have a specific Beta date chosen.
