City of Heroes: Matt Miller Interview

Boomtown has kicked up an interview with City of Heroes/City of Villains Lead Designer Matt Miller. It is particularly interesting in light of yesterday's release of Chapter 12. Here's a snip:

Boomtown: Content-wise Issue 12 seems to be one of the most extensive Issues, yet. What would you say is the most important new addition and why?

Matt Miller: I think that the most important new addition is some of the lore presented in the Midnight Squad story lines. We have BIG plans for the future, and we want players to look back and see that we were planting the seeds for stories and game features well in advance.

Boomtown: The epic villain archetypes are closely knitted to the Arachnos forces. Why did you decide to go this way instead of porting the Kheldians to a villain version?

MM: Well, doing Nictus (evil Kheldians) was the original plan, but it just felt as too easy a cop out. Villain players have sometimes felt ignored, and in my opinion giving them a rehash of a Hero AT wasn't going to do that perception any favors. Besides, we had all this great lore tied up with Arachnos, so why not let you have a crack at playing them?

There's more interesting stuff to be found at the link above.
