Blizzard Rejects Petition to Change Diablo 3

Proving that some people are only happy when they're unhappy, a petition was put online immediately after the initial showing of Diablo 3 asking devs to change the overall tone of the game to a darker one. Fifty-two thousand signatures later, Blizzard said, "Forget it." Diablo 3's lead designer Jay Wilson told MTV that devs are happy with the game as is:

Lead "Diablo III" designer Jay Wilson told me that even though 52,000 "Diablo" fans have signed a petition asking Blizzard to return to the darker, more gothic look of the old "Diablo" games, the new, vibrant art style is here to stay.

This is how he put it:

"There's no going back now," he said during an interview in a Manhattan hotel where Blizzard was showcasing their newest games. "We're very happy with how the art style is. The art team's happy. The company's happy. We really like this art style, and we're not changing it."

So....what's next to complain about? *grins*

I would have signed the petition too, had I known about it.

There was also an anti-petition telling the devs the game looks great and keep doing it their way. I signed it, but I'm not sure how big it got. In any case, I'm surprised that anti-petition never gets mentioned in these news articles.

Honestly, Hallower, that's the first I heard that there was an anti-petition. You have a link by chance?

This one seems to have the most votes that I could find, there are a bunch of them actually. http://www.petitiononline.com/d3color/petition.html

I guess more people vote to hate then to like something.

I hate WoW and while Diablo 3 looks good it's still got a certain WoW tinge to it that is really off putting for me. I wish they would have went with the old style. I'll still play it though.

I look forward to it, Blizzard has the resources and smarts to make this a nice new genre to MMO on.

o.O D3 is going to be an MMO?

Adjusting Gamma settings is an easier solution.
