I've played since 2005. I've played every single Warcraft game, and was into the series before III came out. I post feedback on the forums all the time. I read half the fansites out there. I've entered every WoTLK beta key contest I've been able to get into, and still, I get nothing. Then I log on the main WoW forums and see some mouthbreather who's level 61 and still thinks deathknights require sacrificing a character to unlock and is wearing +int gear as a warrior get in and I want to chainsaw a kitten. This is unbelievably frustrating. I love this game and I want to participate in this beta so goddamn badly, and seeing people who clearly don't give two shits about finding bugs or exploring new content and just want to troll and grief get in is going to give me an aneurysm. I'd give my left kidney just to be able to post on the WoW beta forums. | |
Yeah, the blizzard opt-in process is horribly broken. I'm actually disappointed with this contest. I finished it when only 4 clues were there. Once all 10 clues were given it became too easy. No rewards for dedication, just all luck. | |
Yeah, I'm not wholly satisfied with how it worked in practice myself - I liked the Ransom Note a lot better, to be honest. On the bright side, I'm fairly sure that this isn't the last wave we'll be getting. I know it's frustrating but those are the consequences of a random draw :/ | |

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. I'm pretty much ready to give up too, not worth the effort anymore. Warhammer open beta starts this sunday, so I'll likely just cancel my wow account and play warhammer till wotlk comes out. Guess we aren't meant to get into the beta :O | |

Personally I liked Warcry's BC Beta contests better... mainly because you had more... creativity-based contests, rather than random-draw ones... or at least it seemed that way. I suppose I have a bias though, 'cause I ended up winning one of the Warcry writing contests to get into BC beta, and I was hoping I'd be able to write something awesome enough to do the same for WotLK beta... but thus far, my hopes have not reached fruition, as you've had no writing based contests. *Sob* | |
The problem with those is ultimately it comes down to a subjective choice, and so people end up feeling like there was favoritism involved (or whatever). Also, they're a lot more work to judge :P | |
