EQ2: The Shadow Odyssey Video & Screens

Sony Online Entertainment has released a new video for Everquest 2: The Shadow Odyssey. Several of the new areas are briefly previewed for players. Additionally, a bunch of screens have been released. Check it out below.

O.O Theres 1 min of the EQ movie and the rest is a War promo? Shame.

Well, it looks good though, and EQ is always going to be EQ =)

Yeah I was kinda surprised by the Warhammer 'ad' too. O.o

This video did not excite me at all to buy this expansion and resub to EQ2. The last expansion was bad, I hoped they would turn it around for this one. I am sure the same classes are still gimped and unwanted in raiding/grouping. And 95% of all the enemy npcs showed in this video are old mob designs, dating back as far as the original EQ2 release. Why not include new enemies and artwork?

Why isn't a big feature of this expansion going to be a re-optimized game engine? People with brand new rigs cannot run this game at 100% every detail because just every graphical option is CPU bound. Meaning you'd need a 5ghz CPu to run the shadowing at 100% detail. It does not even use more then 1 core of a CPU. It is going to be the same boring AI, just with stronger AOEs and more 1 hit kills on tanks.

Will the crusader ever be a viable tank class? Or will guardians still be the only tank let on raiding and high end dungeons. Sigh, I really enjoyed my time in EQ2 and that is why I feel really let down. I have seen nothing worth buying this expansion for. Looks like more of the same rehashed stuff. I will not even go into the many failures of the last expansion they released. Honestly, it all seemed to go downhill after Scott Hartsman left.

BTW I signed up awhile ago, I really enjoy Warcry articles and reviews. I just really miss the EQ2 I loved before and am sad with it's recent direction in the past 1.5 years.
