| Blizzcon 08: StarCraft 2 Trilogy Confirmed
We all knew that something big was coming out of Blizzard when all the press were directed to the StarCraft 2 Gameplay panel. But even the biggest StarCraft fans, myself included, were certainly not expecting anything like this.
Blizzard announced today that StarCraft 2 will be released as three separate expansions, one for each race. The expansions will be chronological and will go in the following order; Wings of Liberty (Terran), Heart of the Swarm (Zerg), and Legacy of the Void (Protoss).
This unexpected move was a result of the design team's ambitions to create an "epic" feel for each campaign. Blizzard VP of Game Development Rob Pardo explained that separate expansions will allow for more in-depth and longer campaigns for each race rather than a truncated version that would occur with a single release.

| Riiiiight. Anything to grab some more mullah. What has Blizzard turned into? It's that damned Vivendi, I tell you. Each of those "packs" had better cost $20, or I ain't buying none of 'em. |
| Starcraft cash cow will be milked to the last drop. I think they took a hint from Valve actually. |
| At least Valve makes good deals on their games. |
| Blizzard may not bring out the best deals but they make their games as addictive as crack so you end up paying them regardless. |
| Meh. If you are getting addicted to games, you should probably do something about it. |
| Unlike the Valve games, these are presumably going to be focusing on events happening in parallel. It doesn't seem to me like a particularly good business move, but then again, what do I know? I'm not a marketing specialist. |
| Doesn't take much marketing to get people to buy games these days. |
| If the games are going to be worth full price, they'll be full price. If not, they'll be priced accordingly.
Simple as that. |
| If you put it that way, I'm sure they have already decided that since each campaign is deserving of a separate "game", then they are deserving of a full price. What matters is whether the players will think that or not. Me? I just hope that any one of those would have a full multiplayer. |
