Darkfall: Second Round of Beta Invites

The Darkfall team has sent out the second round of beta invites. According to a forum post at the official site, Tasos takes aim at scammers and reminds fans of the strict NDA. Check it out below.

A very quick update:

We sent out the second batch of beta invites last night and we're going to continue inviting people as needed by our testing process. There's no ETA to the invites, we're moving along based solely on our needs. We might invite more people in as early as tonight, and as frequently as every day. The testers are under strict NDA and it would be very unfortunate if we had to ban people and/or to modify our testing - so we would like to ask everyone to respect our process and procedures, even those of you not yet in the beta.

If you're not in the beta yet, please don't take this personally, it's likely you don't fit our immediate testing needs. There are a lot of criteria, but it can be as simple as hardware, location, time zone etc. We appreciate your understanding as we're trying to get Darkfall ready, we take this process very seriously.

Another thing: We mentioned this before but there is no official Darkfall pre-order. Sites that offer Darkfall pre-orders are not affiliated with us, and we don't support their offering in any way.

Finally, in our beta invites we'll never ask you for your password. We're not asking for any information, we have everything we need in your beta sign up. There are fake beta invites circulating, and you need to use some common sense and be careful.

For a game that has reached near mythic status, I wonder what fans and naysayers are thinking?

And I am getting my "laugh in your face" replies ready for all those that SWORE TO GOD that it would release this year. 50 days left....

Even if it releases early next year, those "laugh in your face" replies will be pretty hollow. Most of the naysayers have indicated that the game would NEVER come out. Their case to "LOL" at people seems to be a bit stronger. :P

That is because it is NEVER going to come out. NEVER EVER NEVER!!!

Vaporware I tell you. How can you be in beta (not that anyone really has proof), and not have any information on buying the game that they say is coming out within the next 2 months?

I had my WoW and LOTRO expansions ordered 2 months ago. 2 months!!!!!

I agree with Delmar. The whole "we wanna do this hush-hush, limited testing, with limited people" thing just makes me more skeptical.

At this point in development, any game that wants to be successful would have launched a massive advertising campaign(or at least SOME kind of prelaunch hub-bub). DF's "indie" attitude is limiting any real exsposure the game might gain.

It's an MMO, right? The point is to sell the game to a lot of people isn't it? Most casual gamers have not even heard of this thing.

I disagree, if you look at the amount of times the name darkfall pops up on Wow/AOC/War forums there is a lot of people that at least have heared of the game.
Also the darkfall forum has always been damn active for a vaporware game

so i am sure there will be plenty of players. And if its anything decent, the number will increase overtime rather than the Hyped horrible mmo's like AOC which start off strong and quickly lose players.

UOX at least had a playable demo that real live human beings got to play.

Like I said, I LOVE to watch this stuff. :) I will probably never play the game and don't follow it at all other than for newsbits. I don't have a vested interest in it one way or the other but it sure is fun to watch people froth on both sides of the issue. :D

Oh and the "IF it comes out early next year" meant that if it doesn't make the ostensible December release by a month or two.

Read more news and that there's already been live playtesting
With a life audience
And beta is more than a DEMO

i know most of you think that darkfall will never come out. Though when you think about it. the less information that the devs give out, the better. this will give people that feeling of something different something that has never been done before. I would rather wait 2 more years and have a good darkfall rather then a crapy one today.
