Earthrise Beta Sign Ups Begin & New FAQ

Earthrise beta sign ups have officially started and in celebration, devs have posted a nifty little updated FAQ on the official forum. Check out all you need to know below:

Now that we're gearing up beta talk with our most recent news on the application, let's get some common questions out of the way.

Where is the application?

An important note: Please fill out a valid email for your application, as we will be clarifying the method of how invitations are sent shortly. We don't want anyone to miss their beta invite, so having a valid email is a must.

What are these applications for?

At present, these applications are for Earthrise's beta, in all stages from closed, limited beta to open beta with wider access to the general public.

What is the first stage and when does it start?

Earthrise is starting with a closed, limited beta. This is slightly different than a friends and family beta and is available to a wider set of people. For those accustomed to MMO betas, people will be let into the beta in groups/waves of people. There will be a beta application period before it begins, though. We have to know who you are before we can get you playing!

Why does my post/thread keep disappearing? I'm just asking what date the beta starts, letting you know I applied, or explaining why I'll be an awesome tester and here's all the experience I have!

The forums are not the place to apply to beta, or to campaign to get in it once it officially begins. Additionally, all forum rules are still in effect. Spamming the forums will not increase your chances to get in the beta, and in fact, might decrease them.

If I fill out the beta application first am I guaranteed to get in?

Beta applications don't really work like that. There are things to consider such as your system specs and things like that.

Can I fill out an application based on a system I'm going to get?

Please fill out the application based on machines that actually exist. Smiley

I don't see my particular hardware listed.

Added on 1/5: We will be adding more hardware options till the end of this week.

How will I know if I got in?

If you fill in the information completely and properly with a valid e-mail address, you should hear about your application status through that.

Can you give me an update on my application?

Actually, we can't. We are expecting a lot of applications, so this is unfeasible.

I didn't get in with the first wave of people, does that mean I've been rejected entirely from beta? Do I need to go apply again?

Absolutely not. The applications will be kept on file the entire period of beta.

It looks like it could be fun, but why would they need my street address for a beta application?

Haven't you ever signed up for other betas before? They all ask for your address.

I've been in a ton of betas and I don't remember any asking for my place of residence.

Low budget MMOs don't count ;)

Warhammer Online, World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings online were low budget MMO's?

I would actually feel more comfortable with a large, well known company asking for my details anyway. It's the small MMO companys that are on their first game that I don't feel safe giving my details too.

I've never had mine asked before on any betas aswell.
Game looks too graphical for me.

I've had some that do ask for a physical address and some that don't. I usually provide a work address. :D

I just type in 31 Spooner Street. If anyone is actually taking any mind to these addresses, they might like me more that way :P

Oh, wait, I take back what I said, I had one low budget MMO ask for my address but I gave them my neighbor's address.
