Elder Scrolls Online: The Next Great Fantasy MMO?

Ten Ton Hammer has published The Elder Scrolls Online: The Next Great Fantasy MMO?, which asks the question, "Can you think of an IP more appropriate for MMO-ization?"

Now with a Fallout MMO being firmly talked about by Interplay, Ten Ton Hammer's Cody "Micajah" Bye turns his eye towards an Elder Scrolls-based MMO and what such a game would look like.

Can I think of a more appropriate IP? I cannot. However, as much as I love the entire Elder Scrolls series (I'm still playing Morrowind & Oblivion), I can say there are a couple IPs I'd rather see as MMORPGs before this one. Half-life is the first that comes to mind. With the disappointment of DDO (as I call it), I'd really love to see a basic traditional sword & sorcery MMORPG, in the line of Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights. Of course, Starcraft is a given, too. With that said, I will indeed be one of the first in line for an Elder Scrolls MMORPG.

You know, Oblivion is practically a ready-made world. It'd be a LOT more interesting with real people inhabiting it instead of vast empty spaces. ;)

And with more than 3 voice actors and player models... ;)

LOL...well that too, Samah. ;)

As long the Dark Brotherhood's still around (and joinable), a Elder Scrolls MMO would be awesome.

I've been dreaming of an Elder Scrolls MMO since Oblivion came out. It would seriously be the best thing that's ever happend. I think this guy has it all wrong though. There's no way the advanced character creation option will be there. It means people can make their character look ridiculous which developers see as spoiling the game for other players. Also, like hell would there be custom classes.

Custom classes would work fine, just make it a skill-based system like UO, and use the classes from Morrowind/Oblivion as preset skill selections for new players and such.

I've always wondered why they couldn't just allow even co-op in oblivion, the world seems ready made for and MMO. Plus I would like the semi FPS (first person slasher) gameplay rather than click on and enemy and whoever has the bigger boots wins type that most seem to offer.

If they were to make it, they'd need to cover all of Tamriel.
And it would be quite neat to jump off Dive Rock with 10 others

Morrowind was better. ;)

;)

Yeah. I winked.

An oblivion MMO would be pretty cool if done right.

And less repetitive dungeons

An oblivion MMO could be pretty good if done well though
