Favorite game developers?

I'm curious, who is your favorite game developing company? Like the company that when you hear they're making a new game you just can't wait. You're anticipating it without even really knowing to details because they've never failed you, or barely failed you before in the past.
My #1 is Introvision. Every game they put out I love. Most are easily picked up and simple to learn, except Uplink. There's a bit of a learning curve with that one. For a small developer they've got some loyal fans and really unique games. Hopefully they can hit it big. My #2 is Black Isle and my #3 is Lucast Arts when they use to make adventure games, and other such random games.

My number one has got to be BioWare currently. They make some great games, and they're mostly consistent with the quality of those games.

A few of my other favorite game devs are Valve and Bethesda. What can I say, I like their games.

Oh, and a very honorable mention to CDProjektRed for making The Witcher and continuing to support it after more than 3 months (yes, I'm looking at you, Crytek and EA, for taking all support from Crysis away after an obscenely small amount of time!).

Valve, Monolith, and Mythic would probably be my top ones. Other favorites would include Bethesda & Rockstar, though I don't think I've ever beaten any of their games, and Adam Foster for the best HL and HL2 mods I've ever played.

I like Vavle aswell, but Riccochet wasn't too good. DoD, CS, and HL are amazing games though. Haven't gotten to play L4D yet, but I want to so bad. As for Bethesda, I only liked Morrowind. They're still good, but that was the one I liked.

Blizzard - I like their devotion to making their products as good as they can be (usually at the cost of release date slippage).

Valve - Makers of some of the best PC games ever

Relic - I'm a bit of a DoW fan, so I love em.

Valve - Half Life 2, and various other savvy implementations of the FPS genre
Maxis - Sim City. Not Spore. Just The City. It's where it's at.
Firaxis Games - I love Sid Meier's stuff.

Call me an Oddball but I don't like any Blizzard core game. Like, the only one I like is WarCraft 3 just for it's custom maps. Jurassic Park was so amazing.
Relic is pretty sexy, and I can't believe I forgot them.

Ever since Suikoden i liked Konami, also Squaresoft (Square-Enix now)

Suikoden? I've never herd of that.

I'd have to agree with Cheese on this one.

And you'll probably never will considering the rarity of the first two games.
You're looking to spend 50 to 100 bucks for these Playstation 1 classics.

Suikoden was a classic (and nowhere near as rare over here in england)

I have seen it, upon wiki-ing it I've realize I've played it but can't think of the impression it left on me.

Companies: Black Isle + Obsidian Entertainment

Developers: Raph Koster + Chris Avellone = <3

Black Isle - Baldur's Gate is the king of RPG's.

CCP - EVE, what can you say the game just continues to get better an better.

Codemasters - All time favorite game, Operation Flashpoint. CoD4 wished it was half as good.

Operation Flashpoint? Is that the one game that if you pirated it it got increasinly harder as the game progressed to where it was unplayable?

I believe the game itself degraded to a point where it became unplayable...dunno, I bought my copy. :)

Can't wait for OF2!

(Please lord, don't let this game fall into the pit of suckage that has become the gaming world.)

I wanted to pick that game up but I can't find anywhere that sells it. I'm sure OF 2 will be good if the same company is making it and publishing.

OFPs anti piracy was 2 fold, the enemies got harder, you got weaker. In addition, load times got longer, audio files became choppy, all that kind of stuff.

They were going for "damn this game is good but i think my pirate copy is broken, i may as well go buy a copy"

That's pretty amazing, I wonder how they did that.

They probably 'leaked' the pirated copy of the game themselves, so that it would be rigged like that.

In no particular order:

Square-Enix; for both the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series of games
Relic; for making what Warhammer 40,000 should be if turned into a Video Game
Bio Ware; for making truly enjoyable Dungeons & Dragons games and that massive piece of FUCKING WIN and AWESOME called Mass Effect.
Blizzard; World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 - 'nuff said
NCSoft; Lineage 2 - my first true MMO which led me here to the most awesome online community of WarCry I am forever grateful

I have seen some copies on Ebay and have actually seen it for sale used at more than one Gamestop.

Gamestops here don't take USED OC games because people were buying games then taking the CD keys and selling them back. Then when it came to question they'd keep their recpeits incase a CD key issue came up.Though, I find it fucking dumb because instead of having a display box out there and shrink wrapped PC games, or closed ones, you buy the open ones. It always drives me crazy because I'm always worried I'm going to get a CD key stolen. I've seen the Orange Box open with the booklet still inside several times.

They could always take the disc out and put it in a sleeve of it's own, write the cd-key on the sleeve, then black out or remove the cd key from the box.

But I guess that's way too hard for your average Gamestop employee.

Yeah, my friends don't like that policy. The one's who work there. They do put them in a sleeve, but they don't care about CD keys or anything. Hell, when I pre-ordered Lord of the Rings online they didn't give me my pre-order gift 'till I mentioned it.

Game Stop doesnt buy used PC games anymore because of that problem - its a good policy too.

I've only met one Gamestop employee that knew anything about games, and they fired him.

Really? All the Game Stop employee's I know are avid hardcore game(porn) fanatics. I would think if someone is going to sell me a game - they need to have played it or know something about it. Thats quality marketing in my mind.

They hire base level employees with base level IQs to match. Most of the Gamestops around here have people that try to tell me about games, only for me to correct them about halfway through the conversation.

Case and point: Street Fighter 4. One employee tried to tell me it was going to be a 3d fighter, similar to Soul Caliber 4. I wanted to punch him in the throat.

Same here, I don't even talk to them anymore.

Here they're all known in their specified console. Very few though are PC or Wii specific. Usually when a customer has a Wii or PC question and I'm there I usually have to answer it.

we have no Game Stop here :)

All the employee's in the GameStops I goto all have the PS3, XBox 360, Wii and a PC. My stores are better than all of yours combined and multiplied by...infinity. ^^

They're about an hours' drive from where I live. Maybe I'll go pick up some swag on my/your behalf.
For me.
