Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 1 Dec 2008 | I can relate to this thread all too well. Seems like the last 5-6games i have bought, i have less than 10hours logged on them. I recently went back to playing Red Alert 2, one of my favorite rts's of all time. I'm really have been getting into simulators, whether it's military(ArmA),navy(Silent Hunter 3), or racing(Race 07). I can play any of those for hours and hours straight. I really never touched the surface of many RPG's other than LOTRO and i'd have to say that gave me a bad introduction to them. It does seem like the games you don't bother looking into or get little to no hype at all, seem to be the good ones. Far Cry 2 was suppost to be one of the big ones, but i think that's a total bombshell. Yeah, the graphics are amazing, but that's not what makes a game. Greed must have the collar of all the game designers these days. |

Although I think the game time you spent in playing these new games aren't that long to really determine whether they are good or not, although they probably do suck.hehe. |

You're primarily dissatisfied with the MMORPG genre, that you've made clear in your post, and the games you do praise are first person shooters. Just based on that, tether the games you play to what you do like. Shift your focus to look for more first person shooters that please your liking instead of chasing the next MMO that will captivate you. You're on a fruitless search, you will never be wholly satisfied with the MMO you find, if you feel the need to play one, let them come to you. Meanwhile, if MMO's got you down, and FPS's aren't cutting it anymore, it's time to try new games or genres. Demos are you friend. Pick up some demos of Real Time Strategy games, try things like Company of Heroes and World In Conflict, these RTSs are based more on tactics and focus less on resource management as opposed to Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, and Warcraft/Starcraft. Strategy games that require you to task miners to mine gold, villagers to chop wood, collect food, ore, vespine gas; add an unnecessary layer to a game where the real objective is combating your opponent. Company of Heroes and World in Conflict both have demos available and there will be a new stand alone expansion pack to Company of Heroes in March 2009. You will not be required to own the previous games to play online with owners of the previous expansions. I play my usually assortment of FPS and RTS online with friends and when I'm alone I like to play console games. Single player games that take you out of the online grind are relaxing and can be very enjoyable. |

For one thing the game introduces this new turn-based battle system that is unlike your typical MMOs that is hack-and-slash based which I find too repetitive and dry. Try looking this game up. Apprentice Posts: 5 Joined: 18 Oct 2009 | I hate WoW for several reasons, one it's got the worst gaming community ever, only one coming close to it is CSS...and it's full of hackers, that says a lot. Two it's an everquest clone, shut the fuck up...it is, and I don't care too much about that, what pisses me off is now that any game that comes out they call it a WoW clone. Ok, sure, most mmos play the same way, but why the fuck isn't anyone giving blizzard shit about making an EQ clone? it's fucking bullshit. Three WoW players are elitist dicks and won't give any other mmo a chance talking about how much better WoW is. Four, there are way better mmos that don't get a chance because of WoW, city of heroes better, champions online better, WAR better, EQ2 better, so on. Five blizzard is still stealing ideas from warhammer, when in production for WAR they had lots of great ideas siege weapons mainly, then blizzard co-incidently decides to add them too, bullshit. and the final reason is that they ignore everything else because they make so much money off WoW they don't give a shit. I don't fucking care if people say they got seperate teams working on starcraft 2 and diablo 3, it's easy to tell they take second priority to WoW, when SC2s site first came up they were updating constantly and continued to do so...until news of WOTLK got out, then it stopped updating forever, no more voice uploads, no more news about units, nothing except for shitty gimmicks to make money and the beta opt-in at one point, I don't really play diablo so I don't know how it did but I bet it didn't do any better. Plus, look at starcraft 2 and diablo 3s graphics they totally fucking suck, and I believe that for a society that gives small companies a ton of shit for games having average graphics blizzard shouldn't be getting away with this type of shit with the amount of money they make, I should be seeing crysis like graphics honestly. Apprentice Posts: 5 Joined: 18 Oct 2009 | On to the second one that's been pissing me off the most lately, Fallout 3...ok, now I'll say it's an ok game...that's it, it's not worthy of the praise it receives, neither is oblivion, but they get it anyway. Why? I have no fucking idea. Both of the stories are subpar to the series they spawned forth from. The graphics are not as good as everyone acts, I'd say they're about average maybe slightly above, but nothing fantastic. Voice acting is terrible, it would of been better off without it honestly, excluding liam neeson in fallout 3. My main complaint with fallout 3 is this, it's brought so many fucking retards over from oblivion into my beloved fallout community and this has pissed me off to the point of wanting to murder bethesda, I'm not saying everyone who plays either one is a jackass, just a lot of people who do, it's like the WoW of non-mmos pretty much, another thing I hate about this is because everyone is going to praise them for this shit we'll never see a game like morrowind from bethesda again, and we'll never see a game like fallout one or fallout two either, some of my favorite games gone forever. Not to mention the AI is retarded, everything scales which makes it entirely too easy to play through on the hardest difficulty, stat points into anything make absolutely no difference at all pretty much, and now all they do is keep releasing DLCs instead of trying to work on anything worth making, and the DLCs don't even add much, oh and the use of an old engine that doesn't work that well and the same graphics for a long time. |

One, average graphics, two small choice of guns, three the stories retarded don't care if anyone disagrees, it's retarded, four the way they do sequels "you blew up the halo, GUESS WHAT BITCH THERE'S ANOTHER ONE" there's a lot better shooters than halo. the new red faction is pretty fun, bioshock is also good, then there's old ones but I'm trying to stick onto focus of newer games. |

Kingdom under fire 2, Dragon age origins, Mass effect 2, Modern warfare 2, and despite my complains I do expect diablo 3 and starcraft 2 to be good, if they ever come out. |

They're useless because they're completely unreadable. When you make four posts in a row on the same dead thread it automatically makes you look stupid. The last two didn't warrent new posts in any way, you didn't have to make all those useless links taller then the Sears Tower, and you could learn to use some g'damn paragraphs to organize your thoughts. Judging by the few things I've read while skimming your walls of text, everything you said is either common knowledge amongst gamers or things already stated many times in many threads across this site. Everyone knows Blizzard swaggerjacked Games Workshops to make Warcraft and Starcraft. mrcheese don't post here no more, so someone's gotta keep the hate alive.
