| Hello,
Firstly I've been browsing through the forum and did not see anything wrong with posting this, if there is then remove it moderators!
I'm currently gathering data for my thesis. I am using an online survey to explore MMORPGs. If anyone has any free time could you please fill it in? It is confidential and it is exploring the online game playing behaviour and motivations.
I want as many participants as possible. So your participation would be greatly appreciated.
The link below provides you with more details about my project;

Sorry for the shameless plug,
Thank you for your time. |
| Hey, thanks for the link dude. Would you like to complete my survey? |
| I need lots of kind gamers to take part |
| Conanbee, I'm sure if you look online you can find many results to surveys that are almost exactly the same as yours. This topic of the psychological and sociological impact on gamers has been treaded many times before, and many here at Warcry are kind of tired of the whole survey scene. PBS also has a very extensive section on the history, the controversies, and the impact video gaming has on the American public.
I've looked through your entire survey. Nothing new is being done here. Also, question #9 is unclear. How many years of formal education have you had. What does 'formal' education mean? Did you want us to add up all of the years we've been in school? Wouldn't you think, for research purposes, it be more important to know the level of education MMO players have completed instead of just knowing how many years one's been in school?
I apologize if I seem very critical of your research, but I'm trying to help you out here. I'm guessing you are a grad student, and have access to information that others don't. Maybe you can approach this topic in a whole new light, a new perspective. Instead of just looking at a generalized 'why do people play mmo's and how it affects their lives in society' why not take a more literal scientific approach to the actual studies of video gaming. Maybe you can go in more detail and criticize/analyze the studies that have been done before, suggesting a correlation between video gaming and youth aggression.
But in the end, its entirely up to you. If you can write up a good research paper on your proposed topic, then more power to you. |

Hey Leecho7,
Thanks for the commments, I understand what you're saying about video game research. I know lots of research has been done before. I admit that question 9 isn't the best question. This is something that will have to be taken on board and rectified in the future. Critically analysing past studies is a option for future research.
You're right mate, a new perspective has to be taken on MMORPGs. Thank you very much for your comments. There is plenty to think about. |
| Hey Greever, I hope you don't mind me posting on here. I know your doing a project, this means we have something in common. |
| Greever isn't doing a project. He's just pointing out that somebody else is doing a very similar questionnaire. |
| MoonPenguin: Greever isn't doing a project. He's just pointing out that somebody else is doing a very similar questionnaire.
Okay, I just didn't want Greever to get angry and think that I was being extremely rude. Well, the more the merrier (that's what we say here in the UK)if people are doing research into MMORPGs. |
| Done, dude, hope it helps! |
| Thank you for taking part ZeroMachine. I appreciate it. I love gamers who help other gamers. The world is full of great people when they help each other. |
| Greever: Ka-Duh!

Are you guys going to be elated when Mr Bush leaves office? |
| I'm happy today, I got a badge for Hot topic. Whoo hoo! |

Here's another! |
| Thanks Sigoya. The badge looks weird! Give me a good-looking badge please. |

That badge looks like a virus or something out of Goosebumps! |
| Hi,
Does anyone here know the exact number of subscribers DAoC has? This would be helpful when writing my thesis.
Is there a new expansion out for DAoc? When is the new expansion going to launched? |
| Happy holidays, does anyone know the answers to my questions above? |

This game must be dying if there isn't a new expansion! |

No, but I am impressed that you managed to *one, two three.....* quintuple-post.
Honestly, just give your thread time. If the members of WarCry wish to post in it, they will. If they don't want to post in it, there's no use bumping it into bloatedness; if it is not worthy of living without constant bumping, it'll die off. |
| I apologise for not giving gamers enough time to reply. My bad, I didn't know. |
| Moderators, Please don't ban me for this. But this is important.
I need a name for my project/thesis. I was thinking of calling it the "MMOPROJECT". But I think it's too basic. I need something more catchy like the "The Daedalus Project"!
Can anyone think of a good name for my MMORPG Project? Something different and new which stands out. Please post on here or email me your ideas at zaheer.hussain@ntu.ac.uk
Thanks in advance. |
| Someone suggested; PROJECT MMO |
