Sol Alpha Fleet, General Information
Leader: Admiral S.D. Dusseault
Affiliation: Federation
Play Style: PvP/PvE/Non-RP, voluntary, organized and mature
Primary Time Zone: US, EST (-5GMT)
Age Requirement: 17+, obviously using the honor system here.

Mission Statement
Maintain an organized, mature (mostly) and active community with a zero-tolerance-for-drama policy and a friends-and-family feel.

Code of Conduct

Why does the SAF exist?
Because the founder wanted a home that allowed its members to enjoy the games they played while maintaining a higher level of organization than we had found in the past, while still not enforcing a "hardcore" atmosphere.

To what end do we hope to arrive?

[*]To build an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie within the fleet and beyond.
[*]To be known as a fleet of integrity and good etiquette.
[*]To explore the game and do battle with the Federations enemies in a full yet unhurried and voluntary manner.

The Sol Alpha Fleet Code of Ethics

[*]Loyalty- We are aiming for a fleet that has its loyalties firmly rooted within. Please maintain allegiance to one fleet. If this becomes an issue, please notify Fleet Command so we understand the details. We may make exceptions, as no situation is black and white.
[*]Community We strive to maintain an active comunity. We make use of forums, chat, Ventrilo, PMs, and whatever else the game may give us. We don't care if your part is large or small, but do put effort into being a part of this fleet.
[*]Courtesy Please think about your actions and words, if only briefly, before taking action- If your actions would make you look bad then it will make your entire fleet look bad. Please be reasonably patient and polite to those you meet. You are the only one who can define "reasonable", and we put trust in you to make those judgements. Don't let yourselves get walked on either though, we will all have moments where we have to be assertive, and Fleet Command expects nothing less.

Sol Alpha Fleet, Policies and Procedures

Naming Policy
Names which may degrade the reputation of the fleet will not be allowed to where the SAF tag, whether that be the name of your character or your ship.

Some negative examples include: Azztorpedo, Klingonyerpubes, Poopshoot, or the U.S.S. Butt'Plug etc...

We cannot and will not stop you from having toons/vessels with these types of names, but we will not invite those particular toons/ships into the SAF.

Fleet Interaction
We encourage use of forums highly. In fact, in order to apply you will need to register on our forums prior to doing so (preferably using the name of the charatcer you'd like invited first). We are not asking for everyone to be forum trolls, but if you cannot or will not take part in the forums then this is not the place for you.

There will be planned events at, both PvP and PvE, which will then be placed on the sites calendar for ease of reference. Some of what we plan is:

[*]Fleet tactical simulations if the game allows for fun and tactical training for those who wish to take part in the PvP.
[*]PvE Fleet actions to tackle the in-game content.
[*]PvP Tactical Excursions into contested areas and the organization of large scale fleet actions once we have the numbers and interest.
[*]Web-based events are highly likely in the form of contests for either bragging rights or some sort of in-game compensation.

You should know that we are of a "Fleet First" mind-set. SAF encourages in-fleet interaction as much as possible, though you will never be called out for hanging out with friends outside of the fleet. It is simply preferred that members look within the guild for groupmates before looking in open channels.

Maturity of Content
The language content of all fleet communication mediums (in or out of game) is considered to be mature in nature.

Feel free to make crude jokes. Sexual humor is fine. We do not really hold back in terms of how we speak, at least not much. All day long the average adult must adhere to the worlds idea of being "proper", and so when you log into game we want you to feel as though you can relax and let your hair down- Be yourself and speak your mind. Even after having said that, please use judgment and discretion with this type of etiquette. Everyone should expect this language but everyone has breaking points- Be funny, don't be an ass.

Fleet Communications
Monthly Fleet Meetings (100% voluntary) will be held in Ventrillo on the last Sunday of each month at 8pm EST. The Fleet Meetings are there to provide an open and honest line of communication between all SAF members and their leadership. We will also post a tentative agenda for the meetings as they approach so that all fleet members may use this to decide if they wish to attend. Important fleet information will often be given out at these meetings, however for those who cannot or do not wish to attend, the details of each meeting will be posted afterwards on our website afterwards.

Alt Character Policy
Please understand that the first toon you join SAF with will be the only toon allowed in the fleet for the first 30 days (Your time as a Recruit). After that point you will be eligible for promotion to a Fleet Captain and allowed to invite all the alts you'd like. The first rank of Recruit, which you start as, is a probationary rank allowing the fleet and yourself to see if the fit is right- No need to invite a bunch of alts if you only decide to go down a different path in the next several weeks.

Ranks and Fleet Structure

Ranks and Titles
SAF ranks will most likely mirror the Federation naval ranks as closely as it can be made to with the in-game fleet ran mechanics. We will also be designating positions with commensurate titles and responsibilities. These details of the ranks, titles and positions will be outlined as more information is gained of STO.

Divisional Structure
SAF is broadly organized into two bodies- The Exploration Division and the Tactical Division.

Exploration Division (PvE)
The Exploration Division, or ED, is one to which every member of the SAF belongs to. This is the bread and butter of the fleet. The ED supports one another in all ways PvE. Certain volunteer individuals will be designated as ED organizers and leaders of sorts. The larger the fleet becomes the more support personell we will designate.

Tactical Division (PvP)
The Tactical Division, or TD, is a fully volunteer division of captains within the fleet who wish to take part in organized PvP. The TD will be divided into squadrons of 10 vessels each, with the squadrons each broken down into wings of 3 vessels each. Admirals will be placed in charge of squadrons and Commodores will be in charge of the wings.

Recruitment and Applying for Membership
Recruitment is done by review of an application. Once the game launches this will be done by the flag officers of the SAF, but is currently under the direct supervision of Admiral Dusseault.

If you are interested in applying, feel free to apply here now that you have read our mission statement and charter.

Refined and updated the posting. Hope to see some new faces soon! The sight has just gone official so we are now opening the doors for recruitment.
