Changes to RvR Revealed

EA Mythic has released a new video with Paul Barnett, Creative Director of Warhammer Online, and Josh Drescher, the Associate Producer. In this video Josh and Paul talk about the recent changes to RvR in WAR.

Looks like it's really coming together. Can't wait!

This video is full of smex and win. And Paul. Easily the best WAR news since the announcement of the game itself.

"Smex?" Is that smurf sex?

It might be, I'm not entirely sure myself.

Maybe Mrcheese wont have anything to complain about then. He didn't sound to thrilled about beta when it stopped, maybe now it can get his endorsement

Well, given that some recent release charts are showing Q3 2008, I'd imagine that beta is going to just get better and better and better. Pushbacks suck, but they're for the best usually. Unless you're in the beta, then they are great; free play ftw.

I won't be very happy if it's Q3.

I know they want to release the best game possible. But it wont matter if they don't release it at all! Better be the begining of Q2!

cheese is in beta??

That's the rumorang

I heard after he told everyone he was in beta Mythic blew up his house. They're pretty hardcore about NDAs.

Such a waste. They should've given me the account before blowing up his house.

Yet another reason even tactical nukes are overkill.

Also where the heck did Mythic get tactical nukes? I think they are more dangerous than we realize...

Your sources are incorrect, it was really a carpet bombing.

I wish we could get a comment from him. Maybe he's too busy back in beta to give us a message or two. I hope so, Oooh I do. I wanna know how it plays now from someone in it.

i like the changes that they do to the victory point system, but i am a bit amazed. one of the first things i read after Mythic revealed that the majority of victory points would come out of scenarios was that most people agreed that open world rvr would suffer greatly from that.

now they changed that, but how many other glarring mistakes are still there waiting for us? i hope none, because i really REALLY want to play and like this game. Please Mythic dont f*ck it up, pretty PPLLLEEAASSEEEE.

It was hardly a glaring mistake imo. I think they were trying to move away from DAoC's RvR system and create something new, as to avoid any raving crazies calling WAR a copy of DAoC or whatever. The people in the beta (apparently an overwhelming amount) said they wanted the Open RvR to be worth more, and Mythic responded and decided if the Open RvR would be worth more, they might as well go all the way and bring back keeps.

I have absolute confidence in Mythic that they'll turn WAR into the greatest MMO it can be.

Please look up the definition of "beta." Thanks.

Also, you have to think that the game will change drastically in it's first 6 months of hitting the shelves.

WoW is barely recognizable now to when I bought the US Retail on ebay :P

That's because Blizzard rushed to get WoW released, I guess they were worried about EQ2, then played catchup with all their content patches. As far as I know, most of the content pre-Naxx was supposed to be on release.

Mythic isn't going to release WAR until it's ready.

Which is a very good thing.

Can you think how different the game would have been if they had went for a Q4 2007 release! I mean, look how much in world RvR they've changed in the last few months!

Yes, thank the gods Mythic actually cares about their game being good.

On a totally unrelated note: Turok comes out on XBox 360 and PS3 Jan. 29th, but not until March somethingorother for the PC. Do I wait it out for the PC release, which will undoubtedly(sp?) play better (it is a fps and all) or buy the PS3 one just to have it and get the PC one for the better multiplayer when it comes out? Third option is wait for the PC release, and get a new MMO to kill time with (FFXI or Vanguard probably) or reactivate an old one (DAoC/L2/EQ2).
