Adventurer Posts: 409 Joined: 12 Aug 2008 | Are you using a retail copy of the game to install and patch from for both the laptop and desktop? |

Adventurer Posts: 409 Joined: 12 Aug 2008 | Try right click the WAR desktop icon and select "Run as Administrator" If that doesn't work try, CTRL-ALT-DELETE swap over to the processes tab start patcher. These were taken from an IGN board, not sure if I'm allowed to link to it so I won't but I just copy pasted them word for word. See if either of those work. |

Apprentice Posts: 3 Joined: 26 Sep 2008 | I have the same prob and tried all the above. No go. Also running WIndows XP on my laptop. I even called EA teach support and the guy couldn't help me. Tried to tell me to go and install Windows XP service Pack 3. Which,by the way, also gets an error message. I am about ready to sell my game copy and go back to WOW. Anyone have a fix yet? |
Apprentice Posts: 7 Joined: 18 Sep 2008 | Nope except i now get frequently get it to 369 Kb before the patcher gets the error message. |
Apprentice Posts: 3 Joined: 26 Sep 2008 | Well, I was running pack 2 when I first started to get the error. I think EA is having some issues with their Download Manager today as well. Maybe they will fix this issue. Though I'm doubtful. |

Yea, reminds you of AoC huh? |

Total bs Answer Transfer errors during installation can be caused by a number of conflicts. There are a number of steps you can take to remove the source of conflict before attempting to reinstall the game: Applications and processes running in the background can interfere with the installation program. Apprentice Posts: 7 Joined: 18 Sep 2008 | Ohh well, this is really strange but it all works for me now.
and that dident work for me. So then i restartet the computer again. I hope this can be of some help to all of you who have the same problem. |
Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 1 Oct 2008 | I figured it out! I was having the same issue, so what I did was systematically back up all of the files associated with the Patcher, and deleted them one at a time, until I found the culprit. In order to fix the, "Patch Error!" error, you must delete warpatch.bin, located in the root directory of your WAR folder. Back it up before hand, delete it, then run the patch. Es muy bueno. |
Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 14 Feb 2009 | I gotta say, I've tried all this and a few others...and none of it has worked. I've had the game twelve hours and I hate it already. Haven't even played it yet and it sucks. GG. |
Adventurer Posts: 421 Joined: 20 Nov 2008 | I tried everything and it's still not working. I think I'll give up and start playing WOW. |
Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 3 Mar 2009 | Hey guys...found a resolution from another kinda hidden forum. But it recommended that you uninstall security update kb943411. I did it..you don't have to restart the computer. Just restart the warpatcher and it started to work immediately. Try this out and let me know what happens. WOO! |
Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 6 Mar 2009 | The problem is very simple. I had the same error and didn't restart the computer. It is saying it can not write to the .bin file. That is because for some reason after the install that .bin file is set read-only. Just untick the box in properties marked Read-Only and re-run the patcher |
Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 5 Jun 2009 | I had this error as well and tried every solution listed here to no avail. Then I found this solution listed below online, and made the changes from "livepretrial" to "live" and suddenly it started patching again - another 4 gigs to go, but at least it appears to be working again. 1. Reboot your computer to make sure no other instances of the patcher are stuck in memory. All I did was change the patch.cfg file, hopefully this is a solution. |

I wouldn't advise that, it took me 3 months of anguish to stop playing WoW, but if you want to ... then go for it. |
Apprentice Posts: 1 Joined: 9 Jun 2009 | AlpahOmega5 solution = win Just burned up 2 days of my 10 day trial. One day just to download the original 6GB of game material, then locked up with "Patch Error!" Tried the restarts, removing files, etc. Changed the addresses in the "Patch.cfg" file to "/live", Patcher launched and started loading another 3190MB of download. |

Hi there, I have got a problem with the Warhammer Patcher.
The problem is that it keeps stopping and then a warning comes up
"Patch error! The program was unable to complete the patch operation, try again later"
Well.. this is maybe not the strangest problem if it werent for that my desktop computer (The one with the problems is the laptop) it works all fine...
The desktop computer has Windows XP Home edition
And the Laptop has Windows Vista on it...
There shouldent have anything to do with the specs of the computer as both is capable of playing all sorts of games without lagg och hacks.
Heres a picture of the patching thing if that helps (And yes i have already asked the Warhammer staff why this is happening and no answer has come yet)
Sorry for my bad english, im from sweden.

Answer
Transfer errors during installation can be caused by a number of conflicts. There are a number of steps you can take to remove the source of conflict before attempting to reinstall the game:
Applications and processes running in the background can interfere with the installation program. Make sure you end unnecessary background processes before starting the installation process.
It is suggested that you have at least 2 gigabytes of free hard disk drive space when installing a patch.
Certain temporary files can conflict with game files during installation and gameplay. You can empty the temporary file folders before starting the installation program.
Some disk drives can read the game disk more easily than others. If you have multiple disk drives, try installing the game from a different disk drive.
If the installation continues to fail, try performing a manual installation of the game to bypass common read issues.
Issues related to reading the files on a disk can often be pinpointed and resolved through disk drive troubleshooting steps.
Sometimes, the conflict occurs within the installation program files. You can perform installation troubleshooting steps to pinpoint and resolve the issue."
