In yet another show of spectacular back-stabbery, a former director of one of the core corporations of band of brothers has flown his true colours - of the insatiable GoonSwarm. The ensuing havoc resulted in substantial material losses, as well as the disbanding of the alliance itself, whose name and ticker were quickly fetched up by the cunning GoonSwarm. This means that all of BoB's sovereignty is now gone, leaving all the defensive structures completely exposed and ripe for the picking. Several goon fleets have already been reported running amok deep within BoB's stronghold sectors.
You know, I never liked BoB, and they were the enemy just because my CEO said so, but I respected them. Goons, on the other hand, I have no respect for whatsoever. I sorely hope they don't bloat too much after this.

Yes, talk about underhanded tactics.....I've never been swarmed with noobships and destroyed by Goons, but I surely don't want to. They are a very ruthless corp, from what I've seen so far.
Still, I imagine this will be a good thing for EVE in the long run, since it's always a plus to have a shift in power every once in a while....I'm just not sure what these next few months will be like....
The goons have gone far beyond blobbing, but that was never the reason why I despise them. Their very purpose is to grief, and even though they do so within the mechanics and rules of the game, you really cannot respect people who pride themselves on it.

People take this game, and other games, way too seriously. If the people concerned didn't spend so much of their life playing games it wouldn't be a problem.

Do i sense a troll?
I sense a troll... EVE is a lot more deep than other games... it isnt counterstrike

No i'm not trolling, I just think that although destroying someones work is a bastardish thing to do, it is just a game. And like if somebody did it to me on a game I would be very annoyed, at the end of the day - it is just a game.

That was all i was trying to say.
I would kindly invite you to go build an empire in any game and watch it tumble down and not get pissed off and want to kill someone in real life...

Your still not getting it! I understand everything your saying and yes I probably would have some homicidal tendencies if somebody destroyed my empire. But are they going to look back on their lives when they're 60 or so and say "My greatest regret is that my online empire was disbanded"

Wait, wait, wait. Who said this is a problem? Why did you even start a topic like this? Something happened that is huge in-game. Who the heck cares outside of the game?

He just didn't want to be looking back when he was 60, and thinking, wow, that would've been the highlight of my life to have trolled that thread.
Now he's got his highlight.
On to other things more pertinent.
Though it sucks to be BoB or in the old GBC now, in the long run it's good for the game to have the applecart upturned once in a while. Many people get so bored of the constantly stagnant world of mmos--here's one that's different; here's one that changes.
That's rather unfortunate on the hundreds of players screwed over by this. The idea that one person can press a button that says "disband alliance" is screwed up anyway if you ask me.
And that post in the official forum linked to by the OP, the one written by The Mittani of Goonswarm, was just painful to read.

What do you mean what did the average player lose? You think they all jump back to empire and then take an hour trip back home whenever they lose a ship, or need more supplies? You think they haul their ratted loot on a nightly basis? You think they leave their caps in a random SS? (Well, some do, actually. Was such a great laugh when we stumbled into one).
While they may not have lost all of their personal money, the financial implications are still severe. Losing all of your Clan/Squad/Team/Whatever mates in any MMO is difficult - especially in a system like EVE where one tends to rely heavily on access to cheap Corp. ships and equipment, stations/docking, and safe-zones in nullspace.
Obviously, you seem to think this had no impact at all....so it seems a waste to even bother discussing the many ways in which members of the Corp. lost more than their Sovereignty rankings.
I didn't say it had NO impact, but people are treating this like those poor people should basically just commit seppuku now.
If the big concern was cheap stuff and safe zones, there is a place for that. I was under the impression 0.0 was a more rough and tumble place. Maybe I was wrong.
What's unbecoming is the way BoB is being treated in this oh so brief thread.
These guys are supposed to be the best of the best, leetest of the leet. Those who left empire space to forge a new way of life out in the unforgiving nullsec.
Instead everyone here is treating them like poor children or abandoned baby bunnies.

No.. I just treat them like idiots most of the time.. which they are

BoB recieved help on numerous occasions from CCP devs. How "leet" is that? They were one of the most corrupt corps in the game. The fact that you look up to those turds says alot about you.
Yes, indeed they are, but you cannot simply stereotype that because somebody on some level had help from a buddy dev it means that anyone affiliated with BoB are rotting scumbags. Indeed the majority of BoB and its affiliates are composed of just regular folk who have lost much through a highly questionable game mechanic. There is no need to blur the line between BoB as an alliance, and the people that play for BoB. BoB is dead, "WOOT YES! Best thing that's happened in Eve!" But, I can't help but feel some sort of sympathy for their players (the cheaters excluded). If BoB had died "fair and square" through prolonged siege and proper conquest, then I doubt anyone would be showing such emotions, because then they would have lost ... well, they would have lost in a "fair" way.

You totally missed the joke I was making. These guys are supposed to be the best of the best and when this happens it's all "awww poor baby".
Either they're super tough players or empire carebears in different systems.
