fortunately, you only have to do this when reinstalling, or installing for the first time. If you've got the game already, and upgrade to IE7, things should run fine. Wonder if it affects Decal? :)
wow, can't believe you guys are still here! And my login still works!!! Hows things been?
Well, you can see our nifty new site :) Welcome back!
Can't believe I'm still around either. :-) -M-
Me neither Thought we deleted that acount.... :-P
ROTFLMAO! Heh... -M- | |
I followed the steps outlined. Installed ToD, installed the IE7 patch, repatched all ToD data, and find i'm still being randomly disconned. I tried to complete the port forwarding steps, but find we've lost the password to our Netgear wireless router. The manual says I can reboot the router, but I think when installed, there was some programming done on it, and all of that work would be lost with no guarantee that it could be duplicated. Since leaving AC several years ago I've played Horizons, WoW, LoTRO and most recently Age of conan. None of them exhibeted the kind of random disconn's I'm getting with AC currently. What's particulary frustrating is the LoTRO is also a Turbine game. If the port forwarding is an issue for one, why not an issue for the other. If LoTRO has code that obviates the need for port forwarding, why isn't the AC code retro engineered to eliminate the need there ? A major part of the enjoyment of this game is the variety of dungeons available. I see no sense, however, in entering any of them if the very real possibility exists that in the midst of a multi-mob fight I am bounced. Body recovery was never particularlry easy; with the drop in population it becomes far more problematic. Are their any workardounds to the port forwarding issues ? Shoboat, Olman, and Pure Evill
You could be running into the problems the game is having: http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=39327
Apparantly turbine has corrected whatever problem you referred to; using your link resulted in this: Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator. My problem started after about a week ago when I decided to rejoin the game, and downloaded a paid copy. My original copy of ToD was rejected as "belonging to another" since I couldn't remember the password I used 3+ years ago. The message stated they would e-mail me, however, my ISP also changed in the meantime so whatever they sent is lost in the ether somewhere. Finally, I tried contacting Support, and well..... after several days of no response it turned out easier to just buy a new copy. I always had a lot of respect for Turbine, but I'll be damned if I can understand how I can run LoTRO flawlessly and get discinnected out of AC about as often as happened when Passport was launched.
Once you upgrade to IE7 and you need to install or re-install ToD, you need to download the latest installer from Turbine. You can download the file from here
