I play on the European servers, and it's quite popular. I play as Elyos and Sanctum (on my server) is empty, but it's always been like that. The Elyos place in the Abyss has quite a lot of people and I see people looking for groups in LFG chat quite often, ranging from quests to low level dungeons, to high level dungeons. I don't mind the somewhat low population though, it means less people are robbing my kills and there are generally less twats.
I quit long, long ago. Population pretty much bombed too, the abyss was always empty on Perento which was supposed to be the pvp server according to Aion source.
hmmm... I have no idea but one thing for sure.. They have a lot of players.. That's for sure..
I stoped a long time ago, Its pretty grindy the pvp is bad and the servers are allmost allways full.
Just reading the few responses here, I don't think I'd give it the time of day. Especially since it sounds like the joy and fun get sucked out over time
I guess they have to add one more server ^^
My friends got bored with it so I stopped playing (no sense playing an MMO alone). It wasn't that good, but had enough decent content to make it playable. Crafting was RNG heavy, combat was RNG heavy, flight mechanics were horrid (fly for one minute, wait two minutes for the time to come back...), and playing as a melee class was a practice in frustration although I've become accustomed to the fact that developers want melee classes to hate their experience.
I've played the beta with two friends, they play now, I don't... I don't know, I guess it's not worth the monthly fee for me. It's not bad, but not the way I really like it either.
I'd rather spend the money elsewhere after reading some of the comments here.
i've played for a while... got to lvl 34 as a spiritmaster on my server. then the quest flow just stopped. around that level (when i was playing) all of the quests just grinded see what i did there? to a halt. I didn't want to aimlessly kill a certain couple of mobs until my next level. and i sure as shit don't want to grind the same dungeon i've been doing for 7 levels. no sir. no thanks. (Fire temple D:) but i heard they added a shit ton of quests in the next patch. might pick it back up and check it out.
They've added further grind quests. And are going to be adding a ground abyss for the 50+ players among us. Oh, and solo instances. Unless any of that rocks your boat, don't bother. Nothing has changed in 10 months. At all.
I left a while ago :P | |
I'm subscribed for another 6 months. FML. ._.
I pre-ordered this game because I'm still a sucker for MMO's. I don't know, I guess I just enjoy the thought of not necessarily being a lone wolf when I play video games. That's probably why I enjoy online play with the PS3 and 360 as well. But back to Aion, I liked this game a lot when I first got it. My brother and soon to be sister in law played it too which made for some fun grouping early on. However, my brother didn't like it after about 8 levels and stopped playing, and I was focusing pretty hard on my senior year of college and simply didn't have a lot of time to play it. My sister in law Quincey had much more time to play it and thus got a lot farther along than i did. Within a few weeks she was 10-15 levels ahead of me and I just couldn't catch back up. It no longer became fun for me so I canceled my account. That game had so much potential though. I liked the combat for the most part even though if you had even the slightest lag it was frustrating to be a caster. But, I guess I'll just have to wait for another MMO to come along and impress me with videos and information before I get hyped up for another one. I still prefer this to World of Warcraft though.
My friend recommended this game to me, but...
...it sounds like it's not really worth it. :/
I personally find it hard to sign into Aion and start grinding lately. I mean, it would be different if grinding for my class didn't feel as much like silent hill as it does. Sorcerers, at least at level 24 are, in my opinion, underpowered. Anything they can kill before or shortly after it reaches them, they can usually walk away relatively unscratched. The problem is when they face mobs that have more health than usual or just alittle spell resistance. They're a great class until something goes wrong. Which, in Aion, seems to happen alot. Worse, is that they don't have many alternative options, just roots and a blind leap backwards. In WoW, I had almost infinite backup plans for when frostfire missed. Even if at 20, in WoW, I didn't have much, at least I had something useful like frost nova and blink and mana shield when I really needed protection. Also it feels much clunkier. I'm personally thinking about sighing off until the second part of Aion Overhaul comes out, but I won't level just sitting around lol.
They've just merged the servers and they are crazily populated now. The server I was on had fuck all Asmodians and a lot of Elyos, although there was still a low population so there only seemed to be a lot of Elyos when you compared them to the Asmodians. Anyway, that's all changed now. The server ratio is now 51% Elyos and 49% Asmodian, and the Abyss is a lot more lively, as well as the LFG channel, it's easy to get into groups and there are always recruit groups for everything now. Terminon Landing is like Dalaran, it's insane how much the population has gone up by. The Broker has been raped to shit and prices have gone up by like 1000% for some fucked up reason. Plus, more QQ in /3 for me to laugh at whilst going about my business.
I've been playing since open beta, and I'm still hooked on it. Ever since the server merges the populations have risen dramatically, which makes for a much more enjoyable experience overall.
The merge has made it more interesting. Don't know how long it will hold me for though.
Used to play it for a bit, but not anymore. I quit MMOs for a while. Perhaps the StarWars MMO can get me back online... :)
I've played it once. But that was so long ago and so brief that I honestly can't even remember the password I used or even the screenname.
I tried, I left. Too grindy even for all its graphical might.
How didn't people realise this game sucked before it came out? I thought it was pretty obvious.
This was on my list of P2P MMOs I might try, but now I'm not too sure. Especially now that EQ2 might go F2P.
Played for awhile and just lost interest. Have a friend who is still into it. I've kept up with the news on thier site which makes it seem the population has dropped dramatically since they cut half the servers. I'm thinking the game may head into the F2P realm of so many other games like D&D Online and possibly EQ2.
Aion... Many few issues made me dislike Aion : I started playing Aion on a free server (after friends recommended to test it) after seeing the graphics and the game i got impressed and at the same moment i jumped to the store and bought a copy of Aion and installed it. I started playing enjoying the start world hoping for stuff i've seen in the trailers, everything looked great for start. Passing to the next region seemed promising, a different location and maybe some different action?? things just started repeating themselves and boring... grind grind grind... even the missions were to kill every creature in the game a few times (sadly they didn't want you to miss any monsters they have created in the game so...), other than that collection quests that drops rarely, if you had to pick up 30 objects from killing monsters, you'd kill over 200 of them. but it doesn't matter you'd return here again to kill over 20000 more to level up! Other than that the awkward flying system... i hated it. I must say that there is a nice crafting system, but it's not enough to cope for the gameplay. I know many limitation in the game came to block peoples using them and harming actual gameplay for others / slow powergamers and more. but maybe the flying limitation (1min) is good if they didn't just put it in small limited areas but also all around the continent giving peoples the ability to fly around... The second annoying thing and i'm addressing is just about the class i've played, as a spiritmaster... Other than that a lower level character had more good drops than a higher level character, in that case if you wanted the spirit and you were lower than the monster you fight most chances you'd get that drop pretty quick (not that quick), at higher level you get less drops and less %chance to gain special drop from a monster... 2. I was also dispaired to find out how much the spirits use was limited and you'd end up stucked using one spirit for PVE and another spirit for PVP. 3. The thing i hoped aion would learn and develop about dissapointed me because they learned Continuing about the game/gameplay : I don't know why companies work so hard to make the same "games" over and over again with better graphics it doesn't make the game any better than the previous ones. What's the point ???! Players that play Aion can remember so many old MMORPG just the same about the grinding and level cap... there's nothing that Aion really makes new about. except the "PVPE" that is already been around in many other games before, that hardly makes any difference from any game coming in the past few years... Maybe it's for the best to wait for the next Generation MMORPG. Just another game for more income for the company that already swims in riches. Aion had an awsome opportunity to become a good Roleplaying game but in the end turned out to be another grinding pvp style game. Maybe we should stop playing those games and "shout" to the companies, we want new ways of playing, enough with the boring quests and grinding in order to halt the fast advancement of player (powergamers will get there anyways, while other players will just get tired!!!). Maybe a new Generation of games should come out that the companies PAYS to the player to play it! That's just my thoughts
Stopped after getting to 45. I liked pve healing, but the pvp was even more a lol dps race than most other MMORPGs which made it even more terrible than it already was.
I only lasted a week or so. I just couldn't really get into it. The level of grind just killed me - there's nothing I hate more than grind!
I played a little earlier this year, few months back or so. I only got to level 13 and decided to quit. Just couldn't get into it.
Why? Is there something wrong on this game? Being low level is pretty boring but once you reach the mid level or high level it's gonna be more fun.
So I guess im just wondering what the feel of the servers is now? I lasted about 2 weeks. Basically I hit 30 and hit the grind wall which was horrible. And then that was just about the time gold sellers got a little ridiculous on spamming.
