I've never really bothered to try WoW. It seems a bit boring, like most MMORPGs. Runescape, BOTS, 9dragons, flyff ect.

On top of that, there's the whole "gotta pay" thing going on, and me being the cheap son-of-a-gun I mean refuse to pay to grind :P

Tactics? Who needs tactics when you have brute force?

I feel that WoW is actually getting boring, due to the similar end game content and the repetitive PVP experience.

It was very addicting at first. But it requires a better end-game content if it is a subscription-base type, IMHO.

This was my experience before I quit a few months ago. Only reason I'd go back is if I knew more people that I get along with who play regularly.

I quit because it was too much of a chore than actual fun. Being a druid was fun (i.e. being able to switch forms at the drop of a hat), but it was just so long and redundant.
My brother kept egging me on; he kept mumbling something about needing me for PvP, which he probably did, the poor useless hunter that he was.
Not that I have anything against hunters.

Wow is like a drug, my personal opinion on it is that you basically fall in love with your character and you have to play or else you'll get angry and stuff because you need to see it. But that's just my general opinion, I have three years of wow experience but I was hacked and banned and I swear, I am so glad that happened I never want to touch the game again! It was fucking up my life.

People don't realize it, but that's essentially what happens and if you don't fall in love with your character you fall for the game. I'm not joking or anything, that's basically what's going on.

I enjoy WoW for a number of reasons. I think the biggest one is that it appeals to my explorer side. I love having a gigantic gameworld to run around in, especially one with as many interesting locales as WoW. One of my favorite stories is of when I ran from Teldrassil to Ironforge...overland across Kalimdor, then up from Stranglethorn Vale. I didn't know about the Menethil Harbor ferry... ^^;

Along with the exploration comes my love of resource-gathering. I get a kick every time I notice my mini-map point out a patch of herbs or an ore deposit, and I used to (and still) plan expeditions into areas higher than my own level to search for the rarer metals that I needed, surviving only by my wits, my Shadowmeld, and the four-legged tank who follows me around. I also like the fact that if, Bob forbid, I can't find a certain thing, I'll still likely have access to it through the AH.

I've seen a lot of complaints about how the combat is nothing but samey grind, but I never noticed. For me, there's always been enough variety in the character classes and tactics for it to never get boring, and I'm typically open to try multiple tricks of combat, sacrificing effectiveness for variance (especially with my Survivalist Hunter).

Finally, another big reason: even though it's an MMO, I can still solo (in fact, I prefer to). The game might be harder for it, but I'm an introvert at heart, and not being penalized for such appeals to me. Despite that, most of the gameworld is still open and non-instanced, which is oddly comforting. Those are ultimately the main things that drove me away from Guild Wars, I suspect.

I'll still leave WoW every once in a while. I have a high tolerance for boredom, but not so much for frustration. As such, I think the biggest thing Blizzard could change to keep me on the game longer (only leaving when real world obligations, like school, get too much) would be to up the drop rates on quest items. As a final, illustrative example:

Player: "Why have I killed 10 tigers, and only one dropped a pelt?"
Me: "Because the others were all secretly made of felt."

Wait, we have signatures?

I play just because it's the only fun MMORPG I can or want to play
Warhammer: can't run
Everquest: is everquest
Free MMORPG's: just plain frikkin boring

I enjoy it because a lot of people I know from school play and it's fun raiding with them.
