Ooooh, seeing the wars that go on between WoW and Guild Wars or Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source, I need to disagree with you there. :P |

That cracked me up. I was actually wondering recently if the reverse would be true: If i like WoW, would i like EVE? I've always enjoyed Space combat sims like "Wing Commander" and "Privateer". Hasn't been a good one of those in a LONG time. "See, Jimmy? And you said a manicurist had no useful role in a police investigation." |

That happens when games (or anything else) are so much alike, people get defensive about the differences--you know, familiarity breeds contempt. |

Wow is simple, you click on something and kill it, after a week you know everything, its simple so theres a lot of idiots there, its not complicated enough for Eve fans, the setting is loads of different but if you like both sci fi and fantasy you will be ok (if such people exist) and since theres 12 milion people its hard to get rid of all the bots, spammers, griefers and gold sellers, but its ultimately more fun (imo) and has much cooler gameplay, options and communities If life gives you lemons, squeeze the them like a madman! |

I don't if the same would be true from EVE players going into WoW but thats my opinion :) |

I play EVE. It's alright, I like it. I like the fact that it's pretty hardcore and that mistakes can really set you back, although it does get annoying sometimes when you lose a bunch of stuff, it does on the whole make it a better more meaningful experience. I don't really care about the graphics quality-wise but I do like the whole space theme (although in EVE it's modelled more like underwater than space, which is a crying shame) and I like the fact that the playerbase is generally mature-ish (apart from Goonswarm but there's an unspoken understanding in EVE that no-one really cares what they do so that's ok). And I REALLY like the fact that there's no "levelling" in the traditional sense. I get annoyed though because I like to RP which hardly any of the playerbase cares about (even though EVE is in a way the perfect RP game because it actually forces RP-like behaviour out of all players without them even realising it) and even in RP corporations very few players seem to have any idea how to hell to actually do that.
How do you think I would go with WoW? Has anyone here played EVE first, then gone to WoW and enjoyed it? Or not enjoyed it? I'd like to hear from you folks before I go spend money on a game that may in fact suck majorly. But it seems to be pretty popular so I guess people like it for a reason, right? Also, do people RP in WoW, and are those people treated with utter contempt in the way that RPers in EVE are?
