Its about time, how on earth did we end up in the situation where a game (I dont mean WOW) can require 1 or 2gb of ram, a £200 video card, 10gb of HDD space, and broadband internet, and they're worried you might not have a dvd drive? It's about time imo, it's bad enough having 8 cds to swap on a WOW reinstall now, I was fully expecting that to creep up to 12 or so with WOTLK, so hooray for Blizz. This from a company who try their hardest to cater for older PCs and Macs too. |
Master Looter Posts: 1063 Joined: 27 Aug 2008 | It is about time. It is cheap to have the game on a single DVD rather than multiple CDs in a larger box than a simple DVD case. DVDs have been around for long enough for DVD drives to be cheap and standard. Most new PCs should come with them. |

WarCry Editor Posts: 4879 Joined: 19 Jan 2006 | Games these days are too big for the multi-disk CD thing. It's not like DVDROMs are cost-prohibitive. External ROMs can be purchased too that plug into USB ports so you don't even have to be a computer builder to get one. Of course, someone without a DVDROM probably doesn't -have- USB ports. O.o If somebody in this day and age doesn't have a DVDROM, they need to quit gaming and go back to the Atari 2600. ;) Suzie "Kalia" Ford |

Hopefully this is not old news for you guys.
"If, for some shameful reason, your WoW machine is not equipped with a DVD ROM, then you can say goodbye to future adventures in Northrend. Blizzard has confirmed that the latest expansion to its massive MMO, Wrath of the Lich King, will be distributed only in DVD format. A moderator in the European forums posted:
"World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King will only be available on DVD, not on CDs. That goes for both the regular box and the Collector's Edition." "
