I see some interesting names and I know people think mine is a tad odd, but ever wonder where people get theirs. I have a passion for egyptian things which is how I got mine...

Emuishere: Egyptian name meaning kitten

So I'd like to hear how other people got theirs.

I dont use name with particular meaning behind them, but i am very particular about them. I usualy reserve this list of names on alts when a game 1st releases.
Strife
Deca
Zypher
Primal
Buju
Kyba

Currently i have a guild i created with the name "Satori" , which has many asian translations,my fav being "Perfect understanding" , and "Total focus"
and right now my nnew Death Knight succesfuly reclaimed the name Strife from my place holding alt, a very fitting name for a DK dont you think?

Sigoya is a mangled Japanese phoneme for "Le's do it!".

The original sounds more like "Si gu yo". Blame my Japanese college friends for that =)

Groa is the name I use for most my characters. She was a rather useless seeress from Norse myth. So it is rather funny (to me at least) that I almost always play healer classes.

My other main name, Ferai, I got from altering a name from the random name generator in DAoC.

I've forgotten where I got Chi from, but this is the only place I've ever used it hehe.

I have 3 toons.... Weepnwillow is my soon to be lvl 80 druid. I thought that because the druids were so maligned over the destruction of their lands, Weepnwillow was a good name.
My second toon is a Prot spec'd paladin named Zephyrwinds. Zephyr Winds are the strongest winds to be found on earth (and only in two places). Great name for a tank.
And my last toon is my much neglected DK named Pinotnoir. Deep, dark red wine... good name for a DK.

Well some people think that I simply misspelled bloody leech, that is not the case. I have been using this name since the early 90s on MUDS. It actually came from my burning hatred for Robin Leach and the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Screw you Robin Leach and your champagne wishes and caviar dreams.

Yes I am a bitter poor person.

DM: From the deepest crypts crawls the undead thread, it's death rattle shakes you to your core. What foul necromantic forces brought forth this foul beast.
Cleric: I attempt to turn undead.
DM: You can't this is a WoW forum D&D magic does not work here.
Cleric: Well guys we are @#$%*%!
Wizard: Agreed, I believe this Necrothread was created by a dread ForumLych, impossible to stop, without a sense of humor.
Fighter: Very well I throw a badge or some other posting reward down at the necrothread and prepare a tactical retreat.
DM: The necrothread pauses at your offer, snaps up the reward and slinks off deeper into the internet.
Rogue: Phwew! That was close... I wonder if there are even more ancient Necrothreads ahead of us?
Fighter: We will only know when we continue on our journey through the crypts of Warcry.

Dommyboy is a name I use for most of my profiles and characters. Either that or Dominatrix.

By the way, a name also contains letters.

Chi can also be pronounced Kai and is a letter of the greek alphabet.

Though chi is a japanophile so i'd wager your guess is more correct

I was, I'm now a recovering japanophile.

Chi came from a character from Tenjo Tenge, which I was reading around the time I registered here. I think the char's name was Chi'en, which I actually tried to register with, but WarCry just lopped off the 'en part, so that's how I got Chi.

I got my character names from the names of my favourite comic writers or characters from books.

My most frequent one is Watsuki.

WoW is one of the games where I almost never choose a meaningful name, just one I think sounds nice...though, now that I think about it, I'm kinda partial to r's and n's (Zaren, Night Elf Hunter, Rinala, Human Mage, Silarin, Dranei Shaman, Xorena, Night Elf Rogue...). Either way, it does fit a little better on an RP server.

I guess I might choose a name with extremely subtle meaning, at some point, but non-subtly meaningful names I reserve for City of Heroes.

Wait, we have signatures?

I just make mine up.
Mash around the keyboard until something fits.

Urvinai (Draenei Mage)
Gornek (Dwarf Paladin, though upon reflection it's more of an Orcish name)
Nurgel (Human Warlock)
Lifella (Human Rogue)

I don't really think to hard on names. Most of the time I just name it after a video game character (I have a warrior named Solidsnake and a Lock name Soap.) now I just hit randomize until I find a cool yet easy to say name.

I usually use Beight or Baitt because when playing games I will be the person that is the distraction to help my teammates.

I used .. Mariena .. on any server. My second character was pretty much always Natyascha. Well, the first one is simple. It's my first name. I guess I just like the second one.

I steal my names from trading cards. First I check thottbot to see if theres no existing npc's with the name. Sometime they are in the game or remotely linked. (I have a card named Valanos, his bow is a lvl 70 blue weapon ingame)

Griever is a griffin-looking GF from Final Fantasy VIII.

I'm almost 18. It's also my lucky number.

Kikosemmek is an online alias I use for most recreational activities. I first got it by signing up for an e-mail account. I tried many variations involving my first name or Kiko, a nickname, but after several rejected attempts, I grew frustrated. I came up with Kikosemmek because it combined Kiko and 'kos emmek,' which I will not translate. I came to like it and have used it ever since.

What's in a name? In my case, lord of the rings references. Thorongol and Gimloromir.
