As the Associate Producer of the game, working for NCsoft, of course I take some of the blame personally for the overall direction and final decision on the Auto Assault service. I did everything I could to be an advocate for all of the players (not just mutants).
I know there are a lot of powerful feelings that occur when something you love goes away. As I said before, I do share many, if not all of those emotions.
I moved from the QA Lead to the producing position in October of 2006. I did everything I could, as did ND, to continue to push toward balance, to bring in new content and otherwise continue to improve the experience for everyone.
It was with a heavy heart that such a decision had to be made. The decision was not made lightly or quickly. I can't go into subscriber details and such, but to be as clear as I can: this was not about making a huge profit margin. My goal was simply to get as close to breaking even as possible. Failing that, there was little choice.
I will do my best to parse this thread again and offer as many answers as I can. The answers aren't coming as quickly as many folks would like. For that I apologize.
On the real life side, my son will be coming into town tomorrow to spend some of the few weeks a year we get to spend together. Based on that, I will be taking some time off (mostly half-days) to spend time with him. I'm sure everyone can understand that.
In the mean time, know that I am on board to assist with the events that players would like to organize for the last few days of the service.
It pains me to see personal attacks, but I do understand the feelings that lead to these attacks. I don't hold it against anyone.
