I think when the original Final Fantasy came out on the NES, I could classify my playing as an addiction. No game has captured my attention like that.

DM: From the deepest crypts crawls the undead thread, it's death rattle shakes you to your core. What foul necromantic forces brought forth this foul beast.
Cleric: I attempt to turn undead.
DM: You can't this is a WoW forum D&D magic does not work here.
Cleric: Well guys we are @#$%*%!
Wizard: Agreed, I believe this Necrothread was created by a dread ForumLych, impossible to stop, without a sense of humor.
Fighter: Very well I throw a badge or some other posting reward down at the necrothread and prepare a tactical retreat.
DM: The necrothread pauses at your offer, snaps up the reward and slinks off deeper into the internet.
Rogue: Phwew! That was close... I wonder if there are even more ancient Necrothreads ahead of us?
Fighter: We will only know when we continue on our journey through the crypts of Warcry.

Fallout 1
Jet Set Radio: Future
Counter-Strike 1.6
Half-Life
but the biggest one I've been addicted to was Zombies Ate my Neighbors. I litterally sat down and played 'till level 35 died, then got back to 35 without a cheat because I always forgot to write them down.

I report badge farmers so that way they can't get their precious Matrix badges, among others. Abide by our rules, and do not spam up areas just because you think they're dead. I read dead areas frequently to report badge farming, as it's strongly frowned upon, and necroing is against the rules.

I believe I have been addicted to a few Video Games.

Most Notably:

Skies of Arcadia: Legends
Valkyria Chronicles
Bioshock (for the story mainly and the atmosphere).

Those ones were my main addictions.

Diablo 2
Starcraft
World of Warcraft
Doom 2

Not addicted to anything at this moment, though I am playing Diablo 2 again, just casually this time. Looking forward to getting my fix with Diablo 3 though.

At one point I was insanely addicted to MapleStory, that game was like drugs to me. I was playing around 10-22 hours a day and was sleeping about 10-15 hours a week x_x

edit:

Oh, wow, I didn't pay attention to the date of the thread at all, sorry for the bump =x

I'm pretty certain I had a clinical addiction to Runescape for nearly two years, back in highschool. I eventually climbed myself out of that rut, though.

'course, now that I have four months off, I seem to be descending into a Fallout 3 addiction. Yee, and haw!

Yeah I've had a few addictions over the years. I played World of Warcraft for four years (I started not long after the beta) and played far, far too much for at least one and a half of those years. I was also temporarily addicted to Mass Effect due to its awesome storyline.

I have been told that I have been addicted before. Particularly to WoW and Starcraft. I played these games often, but never to the point where I started totally neglecting my health, my job, or school. It even got to the point where my parents told me I needed counseling and after I went to a couple sessions, the counselor said I was not addicted. It was just a combination of being lonely and frustrated with stupid drama that was going on in my life. Given more opportunities at the time I would have gladly taken them, but I was just playing the waiting game at that point.
