Newsletter Discussion: Love and the MMO?

MMOs are social by nature. You can make friends, enemies ... but what about romance? This week, we'd like to know:

Have you ever played an MMO with someone you loved? Have you ever fallen in love over an online game?

I once met this 24 year old who wanted to ride me, so to say. She was frequently sending me pics and such. I frequently get MMO stalkers, and random chicks to hit on me. I don't know why, though. Then I tried getting my girlfriend to play some MMO's but she over-analyzes everything and the constant questions and researching made me not do so. Like, she asked to play Digital Devil Saga, so I let her, next day she read the entire script(pretty much) and knew everything about the game.

I report badge farmers so that way they can't get their precious Matrix badges, among others. Abide by our rules, and do not spam up areas just because you think they're dead. I read dead areas frequently to report badge farming, as it's strongly frowned upon, and necroing is against the rules.

Oh lawdy, playing games with "loved ones" can generate extra unnecessary friction. And I'm not talking about the fun type.

mmmmm... extra unnecessary friction.

As I have no loved ones I feel fortunate that this subject has never crossed my mind before.

My husband and I met playing online NWN back in like 2003. We started as game buddies, progressing to irc and vent buddies, and finally he drove down to the states from Canada to meet me. :) We've been married 5 years in August!

It's always fun when you PK them. Then comes to no sex, which isn't so fun.

I met my boyfriend of about 2.5 years in WoW. It works well because you get to know someone's personality first, and then what they look like later. In the end, that's what makes longlasting relationships: compatability, not chemistry

Eh, I've had people hit on me over MMOs but I'd rather not do anything like that. I can see why people do it though.
