Newsletter Discussion: Elemental Adventures

Related to last week's discussion: elemental-themed dungeons are a staple of the fantasy genre from ice palaces to desert fortresses. This week, we'd like to know:

Of the archetypal dungeon settings - water levels, desert levels, fire levels - do you have a particular favorite? Why or why not?

Anything other than water is fine by me. Movement and fighting underwater is both difficult and distracting. Having to keep track of spellsfor breathing as well as moving and fighting make things difficult.

I agree. There's a reason EQ has only ever had 2 dungeons, where most of the time was spent underwater. It's just way too inconvenient for everyone. The reasons mentioned about were more than enough to make the water dungeon my least favorite experience. Keeping track of myself wasn't the problem though. It was others who couldn't keep track of themselves and decided to AFK or just stopped paying attention, when it got around the time to refresh. Resurrecting said people also involved some attention on their part, as they zoned back in over there corpse with maybe a minute to breathe without the buff. There were a few that failed at getting the buff at that point.
