Jumpgate Evolution: Weekend Expeditions into Conflux Space

Heavily damaged we attempted to further our way back through Contact. Expended both in fuel, ammo, and numbers we took more casualties... but finally made it back to Amananth with the scanning data.

This flux, which I was later informed was a Prawn, is by far the ugliest that I have ever seen. It looks like some sort of space-cow to me, and yet, it flies like a Kraken on speed. As I approached Jackpot and the Prawn, I was reminded of an electron orbiting an atom..with Jackpot being the nucleus and the psychotic space cow being the electron. I slowed near Jackpot and tried to get a bead on the thing, but my ship barely turned fast enough for me to track it.

I survived the entire engagement with only a few minor hits - and got podded less than 1200 meters from the Amananth gate back into TRI space when the guy ahead of me gated thru, dumping his flux directly on me (for the record the pilot did warn me of the immenent dump, but i thought that i was close enough that i'd get thru before they locked onto me) I think i got nailed from about 4 or 5 mantas and a bunch of eels. The pilot behind me also got ate alive.

Even with the indignities of a pod ride and 2 lost artifacts (PCS-1 and a PCM-EB2) I have to say that it was a blast.

I managed to scan a few gates and was downed twice. Once time due to my own error in misjudging the space between my ship, those strange Conflux gates (that make me ill on each jump) and a pursuing Conflux infidel. The other time was due to a concentrated attack by multiple flux.

In C-2203, we heard sent song and hurried along to C-2204. Once there, we got our scanning done, but the sents followed us shortly thereafter, calling in drone reinforcements. I towed a phocaena around for a short time after Jackpot pulled an eel off me, but a Stingray joined the fray shortly thereafter. I managed to stay alive for a few minutes thereafter, but the Ray finally caught me and downed me. Thankfully Jackpot was able to keep the flux off of the other two long enough for them to escape with their data intact.
