Jumpgate Evolution: Sentients Attack Wake: Combatant Interview

Celdar: Let's start with a little about yourself. Who are you and what squad are you in?
DhulFiquar: Myself? Well, I consider myslef a loyal servant of Hamalzah. When I joined the path of Hamalzah I immediately joined Mujahedin in order to aid the Quantar populace as best I could. I have been a member for several months now, and have been spending most of my time keeping the Quantar shipping lanes clear from pirates and conflux infidels.

Celdar: I understand you helped repel a Sentient attack tonight. If it's not confidential, what were you doing when you heard about the attack, and how did you find out about it?
DhulFiquar: Well, I was on my way to Wake with a shipment of gravitational components from Quantar Core when I heard a KTRI broadcast indicating a conflux attack on Wake consisting of Kraken drones. I had been supplying Quantar Core most of the night with supplies in order to help jump start missle production which the conflux disrupted a few days earlier. The latest run I was on was to gather some Fiber Optics from Solrain space that were greatly needed for shield production, so I was in my cargo tow at the time.

Celdar: So, your destination was under attack, and you had expensive cargo. What did you do?
DhulFiquar:I sped to Wake as fast as I could. I hoped I could dock before the full scale attack was underway. From previous experience at Quantar Core, I have noticed they tend to send jellyfish probes or small scale conflux before they begin their attack. I hoped I could sneak in under that small time window. Oddly, when I arrived I saw no sign whatsoever of conflux activity.

I docked and dropped off my cargo and quickly launched to get a survey of the situation. I saw a lone Solrain intensity engaging a group of four Kraken drone conflux. I decided to lend him a hand and pulled one off of him which I promptly dispatched with thorns. That is how the battle began anyway.

Celdar: Do you recall about what time the attack began?
DhulFiquar: I believe it was around 23:00 Cornea time, but I wasn't watching the time so I can't be too certain.

Celdar: Surely you and the Intensity pilot had no trouble with just four Kraken, did more waves of conflux or any other pilots arrive?
DhulFiquar: Once I destroyed the single Kraken drone, four others jumped in bearing down on my six. I afterburned away to gain some distance from the cluster when I noticed Odiche jump into the sector. About three or four Kraken spawned on him. The Intensity pilot killed a pair of Kraken, but more jumped in to take their place.

I spun around and charged my cluster of four flux. I loosed two Morningstars at them as I passed, and strafed one of the drones. As I gained distance once again, my Morningstars hit and killed two of them. The last two I dispatched with lasers. By the time I was finished, Odiche was cleared of all his flux, and I noticed a very fast Kraken closing on the intensity pilot. It was moving over 675v. I yelled out a warning about the sentient conflux and attempted to pull it off the Solrain pilot.

The Sentient was using two beam weapons. One of them seemed to be reddish in color, not like the pink I normally see. I closed in further to engage when several drones began hammering me from behind. I was quickly armored and I fled the sector to regenerate my shields. When I returned, I noticed that Wake had launched defense drones and they were busy at work attempting to down the sentient conflux.

McPlowed arrived at that time in his intensity and joined the fray. Kraken drones were dying right and left, and I attempted to close on the Sentient once again. McPlowed pulled a brilliant Morningstar divebomb on it depleting it's armor to 27%. He then followed up with the kill shot.

We all docked and rearmed and were assaulted by more conflux drones upon launch. I killed one with thorns but was overwhelmed once again by four Kraken drones. Odiche pulled three of them off my six, and I finished the solo one. Finally, with most of the drones killed we closed upon another sentient Kraken that had appeared. After receiving heavy weapons fire from all parties, including the defense drone, it quickly went down.

Celdar: Can you go into a litte more detail about the weapon you saw the Sentient using? You say it was a beam weapon. Do you mean like the Thief beam weapon?
DhulFiquar: It was laser-like, red in appearance...it sounded like a laser blast as well. It may have been similar to a Warper. It did about 25% more damage than a Kraken drone blast. The shields of the sentient Kraken seemed weak as well.

Celdar: Were you, the intensity pilot, Odiche, and McPlowed the only pilots to fight off this attack?
DhulFiquar: No, other pilots joined late in the fight. I didn't catch their names though.

Celdar: Was there any further conflux activity after the second Sentient was destroyed?
DhulFiquar: None, the attack halted after that. There were no signs of infestation after the battle either.

Celdar: At any time during the battle with the Sentients, did your ship systems or any other pilots report conflux missles?
DhulFiquar: I never got a missle warning. No other pilots reported getting missle warnings either.
