EGCore, a newcomer network devoted to MMO gaming in general (hey, just like Warcry!) recently had the chance to sit down with well-known Horizons Creative Director, David Bowman and ask him a few questions about MMO development. It's a great read, and EGCore does a great job of asking some original questions.

Q: How would you define a good dev team?

Bowman: First and foremost, a team that can work together for the long period of time necessary to bring multimillion dollar projects to the audience. The team needs to have a mixture of experienced developers who have actually shipped projects, and new talent that is not jaded and can bring fresh perspective into the team. The entire team needs to believe in their project and believe they can keep improving it. No online game is ever "done". It is constantly changing and improving and there are always opportunities to correct mistakes, but only if you acknowledge the mistakes. The team also needs the human understanding of their audience's perspective so that the changes they make are done in a way that minimizes the loss of investment that the players have made in the existing structure of the online world.

Albeit short, this article isn't your run of the mill interview, and is a worthwhile read overall. Make sure you check it out. After you read the article, you may want to read the editorial by EGCore's Editor-in-Chief Shelrabbi. It too is a great read, delving into the hot topics of the MMO genre. You can find it here.
