Asherons Call: Leah Dara On What's Right With AC

| 4 Jun 2002 19:09

As the release of AC2 gets closer and the player base matures, we seem to be slipping into a state of unrest with AC. More and more people come forth to rant about what's wrong, what needs to be fixed. Yet, for all the ranting, we still continue to play. If it were really that broken would we?

Leah Dara's latest column on the Vault takes a moment to stop and voice why she still plays:

Let's start with one of the obvious differences between Dereth and some other worlds you can adventure in: no Elves! Not only that, but no Dragons either! The monsters are (for the most part) different and unique. Some traditional types ARE included (Skeletons, Zombies, Rats, etc.), but some of the Rats have breath attacks, and there are many different flavors of Skeletons and Zombies. Now it is true that some of the monsters in Dereth RESEMBLE those in other realms (Banderling-Gnolls; Lugian-Ogre/Giants; Golems), but most of the creatures in Dereth can be found nowhere else! My favorites are the K'naths, Virindi (and their various minions), and Mattekars. If you had to sum up Dereth in a catchy phrase it would be "Dungeons and Drudges"... :)

Read the full column here and thank you to Ben-li Sung for the reminder.
