[i]Greetings,
As I have perused many of your message boards/forums I have noticed some confusion in regards to players thoughts and strategies in beginning their adventures in Vana'diel. I have included a few excerpts from the Q&A database located on the Official FINAL FANTASY XI Online website (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/index.shtml) that may help alleviate some of the confusion.
Q. Will there be any new Worlds [servers] created in FFXI for subscribers to the North American version?
A. Currently, we have no plans to do so. When service begins, it will be possible to create characters in the already existing worlds [servers]. FINAL FANTASY XI is a cross continent game where players are able to communicate and play with/against other players from around the World. We will be creating new Worlds [servers] however as needed to accommodate our customers and provide an appropriate player to World balance.
For more information on the Worlds currently in service, please refer to the Server Status pages on the Official Website of FINAL FANTASY XI ONLINE (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/server/index.html).
Q. Can we create characters on both the new servers and the already existing servers?
A. At this moment, we are not planning to open any new Worlds [servers]. New characters will be allocated randomly in the existing Worlds. If you received a ¡ÈWorld Pass¡É from a friend in another World [server], you will be able to create a character in that world.Q. Can I play FINAL FANTASY XI in the same World as my friend?
A. Normally, you cannot specify the World when you create a new character. However, if you have a World Pass, you will be able to specify a World when you create a new character.
Q. What is a World Pass?
A. There are multiple Worlds in FINAL FANTASY XI, so you may find that you are not playing in the same World as a friend. In that case, you can use a World Pass to create new characters in the same World so that the two of you can play together.
Q. How do I obtain a World Pass?
A. World Passes are issued at various places around Vana'diel. If you wish to go to a specific World, a player who already lives within that World must obtain the World Pass. You will need to locate the places that issue World Passes yourself, either by finding them as you travel or by asking other players for directions. A World Pass is purchased using gil (in game money), and the amount of the world pass varies dependant upon the popularity of the World you are purchasing a World Pass for.
Q. I purchased a World Pass, but I can't make a new character (or the World Pass doesn't seem to be working correctly.)
A. There are several conditions that you must keep in mind when creating a new character using a World Pass. They are as follows.
[li]You may create up to five characters per World Pass.
[li]World Passes expire after one week. A World Pass cannot be used after this week has passed.
[li]You may not purchase multiple World Passes. You must wait at least one week between purchasing World Passes.
[li]A World Pass password cannot be used again after deleting a character that was created with it.
[li]You must properly type the password and name of the World you wish to use with the World Pass. (World names always begin with a capital letter and are followed by lowercase letters.)
