Duke Takes on Himself in New Duke Nukem Forever DLC

| 10 Dec 2011 21:30

Apparently, just one evil twin is not enough for Duke Nukem.

Gearbox is adding more content to the surprisingly popular Duke Nukem Forever with the release of "The Doctor Who Cloned Me" DLC pack this Tuesday.

The story of The Doctor Who Cloned Me is pretty simple. Deep in the bowels of area 51, Dr. Proton has cloned Duke as part of a fiendish plan and only Duke can stop him. The pack includes a new single player campaign, complete with new weapons and enemies, as well as a few new trophies/achievements.

The pack also contains four new multiplayer maps: Sky High takes place over three levels of an alien-infested office block, Command is set inside an Earth Defense Force base, Drop Zone sees Duke battling in his Las Vegas casino, and finally, Biohazard takes the fight to a nuclear power plant.

The Doctor Who Cloned Me comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on December 13th.

Whoa it moved! I thought it was died. Wow, did anyone see that? There was one last twitch. Wow...going to need a weapon incase it gets up.

The way I see this DLC, it's not going to change the fact that DNF isn't a good game.

What this DLC will do, is be some sort of yardstick by which Gearbox will decide if future DNF titles will be worth the investment.

I feel bad for Gearbox, they are taking a hit for a game that wasn't even really their fault. Hopefully they can make the redeem the franchise.

OT: Will not buy. Boycotting DLC for this game because of the shit that went down with the First Access members shit.

I'm not getting it because the game was doomed to be shit since they didn't come out with it several YEARS ago.

Anyways, people, their still making DLC because the last ones sold and thats because Die Hard Fans don't let anything die as long as they possibly can. We have experienced this with Halo and Call of Duty before.

The game is crap. We all know that. However, assuming this is reasonably priced it sounds like a not-to-bad DLC. As opposed to; $5 for costumes $10 for four multiplayer maps $30 for more story Formula so many are following nowadays. Borderlands did show me that gearbox makes their DLC worth it (usually...)

3/4 wasn't bad.

OT: I can't believe they would even do this. The game is a joke, why even bother? Just let the damn thing die.

Because there are people out there who bought the game, liked the game, and they are supporting those people with what sounds like GOOD DLC at a better price?

Yes, how dare they. Those horrible monsters. How dare they show any appreciation to their fans. They should have had some weapons locked on the disk that could only be used with the purchase of a 500 point DLC like good wholesome developers.

ye*yawn* DNF was an awesome game... so the reason why its popular is hardly surprising. i think the reason why people are upset is just because it isnt simply call of duty for grown ups.

I guess haters gonna hate.

Triforceformer:
The more I see people damn Gearbox for daring to bring support to DNF at their own cost, the more I respect Gearbox for supporting the game for those of us who actually liked it. Gearbox and Triptych don't give a shit about you people crying for DNF to die (who wouldn't buy the DLC anyway); they see the fans who'd like some more DNF stuff, and are providing it. You don't have to like it, you don't even have to acknowledge it exists. Heaven knows that certainly what you'd want to do. But you could be more mature than treating anyone who likes DNF as if they're a retard and Gearbox/Triptych are even worse for wanting to support it.

You. You are good people. You say things that make me NOT want to punch my fellow nerds. I thank you for that.

God Damn! I've deleted PS3 install of DNF a week ago! Well, I want this DLC but don't want to bother installing the game again... God, this game should have never required an install on a console.
Well, no harm in waiting. Perhaps in the end I'll even get it cheaper, with PS+ discount or something.

I have great respect for Gearbox for not just giving up on this game, and instead supporting the people who actually enjoyed it.

Plus, there's a good chance the DLC will be a lot better, as it won't have had the incredibly troubled development of the main game which was responsible for the flaws.

Why not release DLC that makes the game GOOD?

There's no betting on Duke after this...

Its a pretty bad game, but this is how DLC should be done.

Why on earth would you feel bad? It's entirely their fault for releasing a poorly-made game; plus, they're not really taking "a hit" from anything.

The game had been delayed for like 13 years by the time they got their hands on it. They'd have been under incredible pressure to get it finished and shelved as quickly as possible. And the only way that game wasn't going to be broken was if it got completely remade by 2K. Even with their talented staff that'd take a few extra years.

What they've done is bought into the franchise. By releasing DNF they've re-established it as a modern IP and they'll make more DN games, hopefully better ones.

Blaming 2K for the poor state DNF was in, is childish and short sighted.

Because let's be honest. Duke Nukem was NEVER good. It was NEVER some amazing sort of game you went and bragged about to your friends. It was just FUN. And despite it's flaws, Duke Nukem Forever is still FUN for me. I wish it were -better-, but hey... they resurrected a DEAD game and I enjoyed playing it.

Anyways, I don't really care -what- the hell people think. The fact that people are actually BUYING the game, even after all the shit reviews and the ranting 'gamers', tells me that I wasn't the only person who had fun.

So y'know what? The hell with it! I'll buy this too, and I'll probably have a blast.

I guess GearBox just doesn't know when to stop milking Duke's Tit

i would hardly see it as milking.
they know that it is somewhat pointless but they are putting resources in just to make this game more enjoyable.
