World Of Warcraft: Evaristin's Inferno: Interview with Clan Cabinet

| 17 Nov 2003 22:07

So I had the pleasure to meet up with two gamers known as greg and hambone for a chat about their guild >Clan Cabinet. The log shouldn't be read for it's informative value, instead, think of it as free entertainment and dig in:

(Oh, before I forget, there's a saltshaker on the table over there if you happen to find yourself needing a pinch.)

[Evaristin]: Let's start with a brief introduction shall we? Why don't you introduce yourself and your guild to us, and please, no essays.
[hambone]: im masonry our guild is the cabinet
[greg]: we are professionals
[hambone]: we are pros
[Evaristin]: Professionals? Do you get paid to play, or did you mean that in a symbolic way?
[hambone]: we have won the pgl 5 years in a row
[Evaristin]: That's quite an accomplishment. For those less fortunate, please ellaborate a bit. I'm a MMOG gamer, I honestly don't even know what game you're talking about.
[greg]: we also played in the cpl and qvc this past summer taking the 1st place prize
[hambone]: pgl is proffesional gamers league
[hambone]: they have warcraft and unreal
[Evaristin]: And now you've decided to embark on World of Warcraft; Are you experienced MMOG gamers?
[hambone]: yea
[hambone]: have played them all
[greg]: when we say pros we mean pros in all types of computer games
[hambone]: we are pro gamers since we was born
[Evaristin]: So I guess you expect to make it big in WoW as well?
[hambone]: we want a place where preps and goths can get along
[greg]: where norks and dweebazoids can hang out
[hambone]: the cabinet is the nexus of the universe
[Evaristin]: Your site doesn't really give me the feeling that you're very organized, for example: "The Cabinet rules and regulations. we dont have any. The cabinet is a place where griefers, jocks, goths, honorables, dweebazoids, geeks, preps, norks, hippys, gangsters, can all form an alliance of power in order to bring the hordes power to the land. " While it sounds like fun, it doesn't sound like a great guild, at least not in terms of raiding and such? How have you lived with this in the past?
[hambone]: we believe in no rules except freedom
[hambone]: we have
[greg]: were famous
[greg]: we can easily sell pgl rgl and our qvc player cards for 10 bux a piece
[Evaristin]: Most good clans, I assume you count yourselves as one of them, have problems crossing over to MMOGs due to everyone being very good players, individually, do you think this will be a problem for you, and other Warcraft 3 clans crossing over?
[hambone]: with autographs 100+
[hambone]: no i dont think so
[Evaristin]: I got the picture; you're good Warcraft gamers.
[hambone]: because if your good
[hambone]: your just good
[hambone]: and you can team or solo
[hambone]: with nps
[greg]: nps
[Evaristin]: But games like WoW are more than just being individually good don't you think? How do you expect to work as a team with your current structure, including no rules?
[hambone]: we dont need rules to run a group
[hambone]: we arent savages
[Evaristin]: Are you sure? *grin*
[Evaristin]: Let's move on.
[hambone]: ok
[hambone]: lol
[greg]: funny man in here LOL
[Evaristin]: So you're two of the leaders of the guild. Hypothetical question: You're raiding and a great sword drops. Two of the warriors on the raid and both drooling over it, both claiming that they deserve it. How do you decide in the matter?
[hambone]: whoever gets it first
[hambone]: or whoever asks first
[Evaristin]: I don't think you understood my question, or are you suggesting they rush for the corpse and try to ninjaloot it? I'm not so sure you convinced me that you won't have problems with individual talents...
[hambone]: ninja techniques are acceptable
[Evaristin]: You guys seem very relaxed about most of this "running a guild" business. Is there something that would really tick you off though when it comes to your members?
[hambone]: yea
[hambone]: actually no not really
[greg]: thats a tough question
[hambone]: their freedom is what counts
[Evaristin]: What about their "skill"; Would you give the nice guy who's 20 levels behind due to his work schedule the boot becuase he's not up to the guild average?
[greg]: no
[hambone]: na
[hambone]: we're not monsters
[Evaristin]: Sure, I'll probably just edit the "not" away later, hambone. *snicker*
[hambone]: loma
[Evaristin]: So, let me do a brief summary; You're a warcraft3 crossover clan, who believes a lot in individual freedom, whatever consequences that may have. Sounds accurate?
[hambone]: yea
[hambone]: well
[greg]: from all other mmorpgs also
[hambone]: not really a war3 crossover more like asherons call
[greg]: and were jk3 pros
[hambone]: yea we really good at jk3
[hambone]: people watch us for tips
[greg]: speaking of warcraft 3 did i mention we trained in korea for a little over a year?
[Evaristin]: It's strange that I've never heard of you from other MMOGs if you've done so well in Warcraft 3. What's the main difference between the genres to you? A lot of FPS/RTS gamers seem bored when they try MMOGs.
[hambone]: rts are definitley more competative
[hambone]: mmo's much more relaxed
[greg]: fps more intense
[hambone]: fps ya
[greg]: cs,ut2k3,quake are our specialties
[greg]: won many tournys
[greg]: one of which was in korea
[hambone]: we might kick an old man out of the guild if he was incompetant
[Evaristin]: You seem to want to point that out a lot. Are you looking for more members?
[greg]: sure
[greg]: we like to help people
[Evaristin]: Ok, I think we're about done. Anything you want to add?
[hambone]: just a shoutout to all the goths
[greg]: welcome to the pros Evaristin
[Evaristin]: Ok, thank you guys for participating. I hope you can hack it with your wacky slacker guilstyle in WoW. This interview is a wrap.

So there you have it, the future kings of Azeroth perhaps? More likely the future royal jesters, but royal none the less.

Now, I couldn't verify any of their claims to past success, and my spider sense tells me it's a load of crap, but who am I to judge.

Still though these guys are out there to have fun, and they'll be damned if they don't. After doing some research it's evident that they had their fun in Asheron's Call, and left some people behind who didn't quite enjoy it as much? Griefers? Some would go as far, but I doubt they mind. Greg, masonry and friends could very well provide a haven for those of you who don't really care about world domination and want to fouc on having a good time, without any care for at whose expense it may be.

Clan Cabinet could alsobe a guild for those of you coming out of the closet and looking for another place to hide. Oh darn, I just had to try something... sorry.

That will conclude this episode of Evaristin's Interviews. If you want to participate in an interview (and make sure these guys don't steal all your members *snicker*), email me at WoWEvaristin@hotmail.com and we'll try and find time to do it. Please do note that I may not reply for quite a while, I didn't expect this kind of attention (until later on at least). Be patient, I'll try and get bck to you as soon as possible, you bloody jackals.
