Dark Age Of Camelot: Roleplay TL report 1.66

| 20 Nov 2003 01:54

TL report was taken from the VN Boards

Thank you's:

Thank you for the /hood command, the customizable afk messages, increased /rpfilter size, and last name removal!

Concerns

* Roleplay filter currently unable to filter 2 letter abbreviations such as CS, RP, LD, etc. The addition of 2 letter words would be great! Another request: increase the amount of letters that can be used in the /rpfilter.

* The roleplay community continues to struggle with the amount of non roleplay attitudes on the current roleplay servers. While the ToS states that ooc in public channels is not allowed, players are still hesitant to appeal those who break the ToS due to attitude, resentment and negative reaction. In short, players still don't want to spend their play time being insulted, or argued with. For this reason, players do not appeal the overwhelming amount of ooc in public channels. This lack of comfort with the appeal process has, in effect, allowed ooc to become far too common.

* The lack of dynamic storyline and evolving plot lines leaves very little focus for ongoing roleplay. This lack of backbone to the roleplay atmosphere has caused some apathy within the roleplay community. Dynamic live quests, or large ongoing server wide plots could greatly add to the enjoyment and general stickiness of the game.

* Name Policy: Baroness Winterborne and Wulfred, two of our dedicated player base, have come up with a wonderful clarification to the name policy. I will add the full report at the end of the TL report for your review. I believe the work they have done here will greatly aid in clarifying the ongoing concerns with the name policy and its lack of clear definitions. I also request that we consider name reviews at 5 days /played.

* Request to have an on /off toggle on the rpfilter: There are times where the specific words a person is using is needed, or wanted. Getting to know new possible guild mates etc. A toggle for the roleplay filter would be greatly appreciated.

* Server voting system for /level: Allow the players of the realm in question vote on whether or not a /level would be helpful to their community.

Immersion Issues, things that conflict with the roleplay atmosphere.

* Lack of ability to interact with the environment: Equip a wine glass, eat the food, get intoxicated, kick a cat, fish from a boat. ANYTHING that can be made more manipulative in the environment the better.

* "battery of life" maybe an alternate name for this Realm Ability be found?

* Replace interior house merchants with items: No more creepy silent men lurking about!

* The O'Riley fix: Can we see about making a change so that the Al'hazeed etc can have their names written correctly?

Fluff :
I have left off the suggestions already made on the last TL report, those are on the record already, as it were, so let this be the "in addition too" list.

- Request emotes:
/lay (lay down)
/sit (Can we PLEASE sit in chairs yet?)
/trip
/primp

- Seasonal decorations. Perhaps autumn leaf wreaths? Evergreen swags?

- Different mounts for different races: Lurikeens on ponies! Trolls on BIG horses.

- Ability to change hair styles.

- Interior house plants and house pets.

-Books or scrolls that players can scribe.

-Edible food and drink sold in all pubs.

-Bar Maids that wander through the pubs, and have ales and edible foods.

- Crafter emblems able to be placed on cloaks. New set of crafter specific emblems?

-New songs for the bards, minstrels etc... anything.. please.. must get song out of my head...

-New instrument variety: Tambourine in place of drums? Bagpipes instead of flutes?

-Ability to emblazon a purchased boat's sail with your guild's emblem.

- "Can we have metal staves for sylvans? Seems wrong using your cousin as a walking stick" -player quote that I couldn't pass up. Bone would work as well.

- A pub near the main RvR portal areas, such as Sauvage. This would allow for easier gathering and roleplay interaction. A pub would most definitely be built where so many gather.

- /time: based on the /clock command, a /time command that would show the in game time.

- Bows slung on the characters back when not in use.

- Surcoats.

Naming Policy for Roleplaying Servers

-All names must fit into the medieval fantasy setting.
-All policy enforcement for names on the roleplaying servers will be done
aggressively by members of the DAoC CS staff, of Server Lead and higher
authority. It is in Mythic's sole judgment whether a name breaks the
policy, and we will rename characters accordingly. If you see someone with
a name that obviously breaks the roleplaying rule set, please report them.
